It is thought close to 40 positions have been made redundant as new VRC chief executive Kylie Rogers (the former AFL executive and customer and commercial manager) begins a restructure.

Racing Minister Winston Peters has announced the Government’s plans to end greyhound racing in New Zealand.
“This is not a decision that is taken lightly but is ultimately driven by protecting the welfare of racing dogs,” the Minister said in an announcement at the Beehive on Tuesday afternoon.
The three-time racing minister and supporter of the racing industry has been considering the future of greyhound racing since early this year.

For the second year in a row, LawConnect had claimed line honours in the Rolex Sydney Hobart yacht race. It crossed the finish line at 2.35am Hobart time, in the time of 01 day 13 hours 35 minutes 13 seconds. Celestial V70 was second and Wild Thing 100 third. Celestial V70 is the current leader in overall handicap.

Sam Haynes — Commodore of race organiser, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia — sailed Celestial V70 to second over the line at this year’s Sydney to Hobart race line on Saturday, with the yacht later named provisional overall winner.
The Perth Cup race will be run at 5.50pm Perth time (8.50pm AEDT), with the meeting reduced from nine to seven races.
