A distance that far, into nearby SCA markets really holds no benefit for clients.
Canberra FM has share ownership between SCA & ARN & as a part of that deal 104.7 carries the SCA brand whilst MIX 106.3 carries ARN Branding
Listening to 2GO, there is some TalkBack show talking back the night. Not on triple m. It’s on 2wg. 4gr with one hour behind does not have it on yet. I dont mind the classic hits format. It’s better than the greatest hits, than 2go has.
I’m pretty sure that the Classic Hits/Greatest Hits SCA regional stations have run “Talking Back The Night” for several years now. Although I’m not sure if that’s separate to the overnight talk show Luke Bona will be presenting next year to a metro Triple M audience.
It’s the same show.
Luke’s new show starts tomorrow night in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide only, but will be on the regional Triple M stations from January 9th.
Had the opportunity to compare Luke’s show with that of Talking Back The Night.
Luke’s show is streets ahead in quality and knowledge of talk radio. The sooner the former replaces the latter the better.
This regional talk show was always a poor cop out by then MRRW to replace the higher quality talk radio from 2UE and 3AW heard on the recently acquired DMGRR stations. An excuse to save money on music royalties.
Luke’s show is how talk radio should be, he has the x-factor needed to make a show out of the shift as in the vein of Stan Zemanek.
Except they wouldn’t, since the APRA fee is based on a percentage of revenue.
From the few times I’ve listened to TBTN it seemed like it was rather lacking in talk for a talk show. I would often have to listen for 10+ minutes worth of songs and ads before even hearing Christian. I don’t know if it was due to a lack of topics or callers, but it always sounded like a bit of a half arsed attempt at talk to me.
Don’t mind Christians show, when he actually talks. There is interesting topics none of which a real boring. If they focused on more talk less ads it would be a higher quality show, he is really good and engaging with the callers. need to listen to Bona’s next week, to compare them.
Also loved the awesome 80’s weekend, some absolute gems in there.
Tim Farriss and Kirk Pengilly of INXS, will be a part of Triple M’s regional line-up from Thursday December 15.
Only until December 23 though as part of their launch strategy.
9-10am, except for the Classic Hits stations, Orange and Coffs Harbour who will get it from 12-1pm.
Would make more sense for them all to be that time. Is a good slot for specials to break the workday up a bit.
When does the rebrand go ahead?
I haven’t heard anything on the radio at all.
But I did get a Facebook notification saying “a page you like called SeaFM has changed its name to Triple M” this morning
Looks as though the rebrand starts today. 2CS, 2RG and 4GR all have been renamed
Sea FM Fraser Coast this morning announcing “in 24 hours something new is going to hit your favourite station”
Lots of Facebook name changes today. This is because it’s a tricky process to change the name of a Facebook page requiring manual authorisation from Facebook. Therefore by changing the name today it means that they won’t have any pages with the old names once the launch happens.
Triple M rebranding is Getting There, Once DAB+ arrives in Most of those Markets where SCA has a Monopoly on Commercial Radio, they’all launch a Pure Rock Music Station entitled M-Rock to respect the Heritage Rock Triple M Made Famous.
Add Hot FM West Queensland > Hit West Queensland to the list
New logos. Areas with multiple frequencies get a generic logo without any frequency mentioned.
Bundaberg is also staying “SEA” due to the conflict with Hitz FM.
They have also gone with regional names instead of town names for a lot of them. I have translated these below.
New websites are also on the way - it would make sense from them to launch tomorrow, but I’m not 100% sure if they are ready yet.
