Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)

963 Triple M Limestone Coast’s conversion to 90.5 FM has been delayed due to technical issues, breakfast host Ewan responded to back to me via Facebook messenger this morning, after I inquired what was going on yesterday, he’s hoping the change will occur on the 20th at this stage. I knew something was up earlier this week, test transmissions had yet to start on 90.5 & the consistent ads advertising to the change had disappeared over the last week & a half.

Shipping delays on some RF equipment coming from overseas that got caught up in customs.

The closure of RFS doing broadcast equipment is a shame.

By the time I looked, Triple M was okay on 107.3MHz.
But 100.9 was distorted & it looked like there were two transmissions on 100.9MHz; one transmission was open carrier & the other distorted audio. But fault corrected a little before 6.30pm.

90.5 Triple M been cutting in & out for the last couple of hours, long periods of dead air, then it will come back for a minute or so then 5 to 10 minutes of dead air silence again etc. No problems on the old 963AM or on the LiSTNR app.

Whilst in WA, I did some dial twiddling last evening between 6-7pm and noticed Triple M Southwest (6TZ-6BY) had different programming to the other Triple M WA stations…. I’m guessing only South West gets Cliff Reeves on Drive and everyone else gets another program (don’t know what) ??? Website doesn’t really say.

6 - 7PM is Sportsday WA across Triple M WA, except 6TZ. Even before Bunbury had SEN Spirit, Sportsday was on the original Redwave Spirit Network, leaving 6TZ to find alternate programming.

Presumably the ex-Spirit stations have the following schedule?

4-6 Cliff Reeve
6-7 Sportsday WA
7-9 Rush Hour WA (time delayed)
9-12 MMM Nights

It wouldn’t be just ex-Spirit, but all ex-Radio West stations too except 6TZ and 6BY.

I heard an unusual ad for Listnr today.

On 756 Triple M (6TZ) Busselton, they were promoting their stream with the words…. “Listen to Triple M as how it’s meant to be heard…. in full stereo”….

Kind of like saying we don’t you to be listening to us on AM ….

Nothing unusual in that. I generally tell people off air locally to stream my show as the stereo carrier and audio on 2BBB likes to be intermittent at times. And it generally sounds better on the stream anyway.

Such a shame the Triple M brand was forced on an AM station like 4GR. The locals HATE it, believe me, I know lots of people up in Toowoomba. They loathe it.

While listening to 963 Triple M Griffith via the LiSTNR yesterday I heard the same ad, thankfully where I live Triple M have recently converted to 90.5FM. I wonder if SCA have more plans to convert more of there AM stations to FM in the future?

I reckon they would convert them all to FM if they were allowed to.

Well if ACMA would pull their finger out and do some work on restacking etc to allow the conversions.
