Looking at Radioapp & Lava, it appears that MMM Central Coast is on the same log as MMM Sydney, whereas MMM Newcastle & its other regional stations are on its own log.
For comparison’s sake, MMM Brisbane & the Gold Coast (which is on the regional log) are on separate logs from one another.
If they wanted to avoid similarity of playlists in adjacent markets, Sydney and Central Coast should be on different logs - which would mean Newcastle and Sydney should be on the same log. A 3rd log would be better again.
Interestingly, judging by Lava, it appears that MMM Central Coast is now on its own log as from yesterday, separate from its other metro & regional stations.
Ben Carney will be Workday announcer & Operations Assistant for Hit 100.9 in Hobart, commencing Monday 16th August. He currently hosts half of the Saturday Night Party Playlist, which is heard across the Hit Network out of Bunbury.
James Speed will become Group Content Director of Hit & Triple M for the Central Coast, Port Macquarie & Coffs Harbour. His new role, a newly created one, will start from Monday 2nd August.
Not to mention that the breakfast show on Hit Central Coast also goes out to Hit stations in Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Orange, Wagga & Griffith, rendering the rebrand as impossible.
Hit 106.9 in Newcastle rebranding back to NXFM would be more likely, but as said above, Sea FM in the Gold Coast will be the last one to go back to its Heritage name.
Yes Newcastle is the only other one I can see reverting.
When you look at population figures and growth, the Gold Coast is increasingly being seen as a “metro” market in its own right. Gold Coast population is well over 700,000 in 2021 which is much larger than Newcastle or Canberra (both around 450K), and it’s growing much faster.
I know it shouldn’t be based entirely on population and I think they should revert to all heritage names personally, but it’s not surprising they picked Gold Coast as potentially “the last”.
Also based on the fact Hot Tomato is giving both Hit (Sea) and Triple M (Gold) a flogging in the ratings. The name change hasn’t helped in the slightest.
