Thats one hour less than what Ray was doing?
Hadley was originally 2 hours in regional areas with 1 hour of Alan Jones highlights at 11:00am, iirc. In recent years the Jones highlights were dropped.
Thereâs an oxymoron for you.
Youâve got to say, surely it makes sense for SCA. While I find Ray to be the better broadcaster, theyâd want to be keep it in house these days.
I suspect itâs also something to do with the TV affiliation agreement between SCA and Nine Entertainment also ending on the same date.
Had Nine not gone back to WIN, they may have kept Ray Hadley on.
SCA arenât that coordinated, would suggest just a coincidence based on end of the financial year.
It is still a big shame that there is hardly any local content.
I want know more about this from Radio Yesterday:
Australia Today with Steve Price will be an audio first with a dual broadcasting strategy across the LiSTNR app and our FM stations that we are excited to be launching,â he said.
Blair Woodcock claims FM stations theyâre excited to be launching.
From memory, out of their AM stations listed, none are converting to FM.
Albany was the only they applied to convert to FM.
The AM 963 trio of 5SE/2RG/4WK continues despite SE & RG in eligible solus markets.
No conversion for 2WG with a new mast recently.
That leaves 4GR which is currently ineligible for FM conversion under the current round of planning to aide solus markets to convert.
So what stations could Blair be referring to? Or does Blair think all the MMM regionals are on FM and thatâs where the program is launching? Is Blair really that light on knowledge of his own network? I find it hard to believe.
Has Radio Yesterday made a mess of paraphrasing quotes again?
On a related matterâŚ
Morning talk is being introduced to their Dubbo licence, originally Star/Hit, now MMM. I wasnât aware of Hadley being on air via SCA Dubbo.
What of the Vic SCA stations in Mildura, Bendigo, Shep, Albury and Warragul?
Competitor Neil Mitchell is on air isnât he in Mildura, Bendigo, Albury and Traralgon?
Interesting that SCA chose not to air Price there. Victoria is Priceâs long term home state, having moved across from Adel for newspapers and then radio. Why would that be?
Guessing âthe strategyâ is whatâs being launched here, and someone - either Blair or someone at RT - has overlooked that some of the Triple M regional stations taking the show are on the AM band.
I think he means that they are launching âAustralia Todayâ on FM stations (when it was previously online only), not launching any brand new stations. And yes, heâs overlooked that some taking the show are AM stations.
Though it is on DAB+ in all state capital cities and Canberra.
Danny Lakey pulled from regionals tonight, donât know if itâs a long term thing
I had the same thought regarding the Vic TripleMâs. Recently his topics of choice on LiSTNR have been very Melbourne related with a focus on COVID as opposed to Hadley being Sydney centric. Curious to see if they are thinking of trialling it there particularly Shepparton which has overlap with Bendigo and other talkback content such as Sports Today.
I could only hope they drop Danny Lakey. B grade trash in my opinion. Replace it with a cold 30 type show with a talented announcer.
Has disappeared off regional websites too
It is sounding like automated music tonight instead (Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour Triple Ms).
Wonder what they will replace it permanently?
Something like the âSchool Of Rockâ program that originated from the Gold Coast in the late 00s, or a Cold 30 would be good.
Or a live ring in request show?
He mentioned that he isnât on the regionals tonight but wasnât listening properly.
He has a listener on from Warragul saying he is listening thru the Triple M Melb website. He listened to the regionals and they are just playing pure music. Could only hope they dump him off the capitals now.
I wonder if Danny Lakey has been pulled from the regional Triple M stations due to concerns about the content/his style of broadcasting? You may recall that about three or four months back, he got into hot water over a rather crass âideal sex dollâ (or something among those lines) segment - not exactly the type of thing thatâs likely to go down well amongst listeners in conservative regional areas!
