I think the reason they can’t take the network feed from Townsville anymore is because the Townsville feed have a different music playlist & the rest of the regional stations still call themselves Hit.
When I’ve been in regional Victoria I’ve never caught the network jocks actually referring to the station as Hit: it’s usually along the lines of “Hits and Old School” instead. Regardless, there’s nothing from a technology standpoint that’s stopping them doing split breaks, whether that’s from Townsville or Adelaide.
This is their biggest issue with local station identities (including Fox FM, 2Day FM, etc.), it makes networking so much harder, even if it’s just used during the quieter times.
Triple M has announced Blayne Treadgold as host of Kalgoorlie’s new breakfast show, Blayne for Breakfast, commencing on air on Wednesday 12 August.
Blayne for Breakfast from 6am to 9am will also be heard in Esperance, with local content in both Kalgoorlie and Esperance supporting the show.
Fresh out of North Metropolitan TAFE, Treadgold has landed his dream role at Triple M.
Cheap, poor for all. Not what local radio is about. Goodbye connection with community.
Yup, I herd that allot on Bendigo and Gippsland hit. Dead give away it’s networked, which is fine! But it would probably sound better if they didn’t say it at all and instead played a local ID.
Hi all. Are the regional triple m presenter in Victoria working from home during Covid?.
I have been listening to Triple M Shepparton and notice the audio difference between breakfast announcer and the weekday morning announcer is vastly different. The weekday announcer is slightly over modulated and the recorded audio of previous clips, the audio volume is that low that you can hardly hear it.
Former Hot Tomato breakfast presenter, Sean ‘Flan’ Flanagan, is joining Triple M Gold Coast breakfast with Bridge & Spida, commencing from Monday 31st August.
Bridge & Spida Now with Flan
Has to be one of the most bizarre names for a breakfast show in Australia
I’m sure thats a meal at a dessert bar
Strange things happening on Kingaroy’s 89.1 during network break tonight. Extended period of dead air; music cut in presumably back up; then ads came in across the top. It was back in sync with the network when the program returned.
They’ve been after him for years, finally might be some decent competition for Hot Tomato.
Usual SCA tactic, can’t win, so poach why you’re not.
Completely different audience at 92.5 MMM however, so it will take time.
Isn’t this a regular occurrence?
Great days pre 2002 when 89.1 Kingaroy was Power FM, owned by APN and local wall to wall. It was a great listen, had to be successful.
If the rumours are true, wonder how they’ll meet their local content quotas. Just crossed my mind, most Hit stations have a local mornings shift, so no doubt that’ll continue.
I think its pretty poor to have a Breakfast show networked, especially to those Hit stations who don’t have a local mornings shift & I wonder whether 96.1 SAFM is going to be included in this?
SAFM will likely be networked to SAFM Adelaide.
Radioinfo has picked up on the story, mentioning that the changes will be announced later today: https://www.radioinfo.com.au/news/changes-coming-hit-network-regional-breakfast-shows
20 regional breakfast shows have been axed
Bloodbath.
Victorian breakfast now from New South Wales. That’ll go down well.
You’d think Newcastle and Canberra will be exempt from the NSW networking, likewise in Queensland with Gold Coast breakfast.
