Sky News

I’d dare say this secret project is something called ‘NZ Edition’

Extremist propaganda as the views of the night time opinion hosts is very dangerous. Don’t say these people are centre right. They’re extreme right wing lunatics filled with hatred of others.

Not really a secret now, is it?

Is because SCA don’t fully own the TEN service in TAS. Being a JV with WIN may have something to do with that, all too difficult to sort out. Believe me, you are not missing out at all. And more than likely Seven won’t allow it to be screened on the SCA7 multiplex either.

I know Sky leans right - and it’s like a shock jock format - they say things for shock value…and they go on about “lefties loosing it” when it fact they are righties loosing it - on just about every topic. I get it! It’s opinion and it’s done to wind people up. No doubt. And they can’t take what they dish out.

But can you post some examples of clips where extremist propoganda full of hatrid has appeared?

I’d love to see some examples of this - I just don’t see it

Yep, in markets where both Sky and ABC run their 24/7 channels - overall Sky ourates ABC by about a 35% margin.

In the QLD market Sky News is the no. 2 multichannel, behind only 7TWO and ahead of Bold, Go, Peach, ABC Kids, 9Go, 7flix, 7mate, Nick, ABC News etc.

In QLD it has amost double the audience of ABC News.

Even in SNSW - the market that holds Canberra - more people watch Sky News than ABC News.

I wonder why they didn’t include NZ in the graphic? haha

I was thinking something interested happening at Sky News…but its just the usual garbage from a certain poster about Sky After Dark .

The news during the day is pretty good. Not sure how there is some underlyning strategy of bias and hatred .

I think we will all agree Sky News After Dark is very right wing and their opinilns cater for those who like that.

Donot watch if it upsets you. Simples.

This actually sounds like paranoia and a conspiracy theory. If it’s hidden subtext, it can hardly be extreme right wing…it would be obvious.

I think we all agree they are unaplogetically right-wing. My point is that I think they’ve reigned in alot of the “hate” they were famous for, so that their positions are more based in some sort of fact than wild speculation. They certainly appear far less on Media Watch these days. TL:DR…not as bad as Fox News.

This. :ok_hand:

@cmo just chasing. Super curious

Haven’t watched it. Haven’t had time.

Paul Murray uses very violent rhetoric. Andrew Bolt and Peta crediln are quite aggressive in their right wing overtones. The less I say about the Outsiders program the better.

One day I’ll tune in and do an inventory but of the stuff I’ve seen it’s very extremist.

Please forgive me for butting in - I’m… not the member you’re referring to, in case you couldn’t tell(!) but I have found some examples myself:

The usual conspiracy nonsense about the Great Reset (this was cited positively by Mr Infowars himself, Alex Jones):

Calling the government anti-semitic for daring to recognise that Israel is occupying Palestinian territories (which, I might add, is illegal under international law!):

Urging viewers to use cash, because if we keep using cards the government will eventually control our spending(!)

Honestly just getting rid of Rowan Dean would solve a lot of issues.

As a bonus, here’s another beauty from Paul Murray, which wasn’t said on air, but it gives an idea of what he’d be like uncensored. Comparing Palaszczuk and the rest of Queensland Labor to the bits of turd that get stuck to the bowl. Okay, that’s not quite extremist as such, but still pretty damn gross:

(I know the Guardian isn’t exactly unbiased itself, but they’re the only ones who published this. There’s a recording so you can hear it for yourselves)

In their defence (can’t believe I’m writing this!) Sky as a whole do seem to have toned things down a bit lately - back to standard right wing stuff rather than the extreme conspiratorial nonsense - but some names still stick out compared to others.

Far less impressive when you see they upload at least 4 videos every hour. Sometimes they just reupload the same segment multiple times. Was doing research on some things today and this clip of Caleb Bond talking about Jacqui Lambie has been uploaded (at least) three separate times at varying lengths.

And while Sky News on linear might have “toned it down”, they certainly let their comment sections on YouTube and Facebook run wild with all kinds of conspiracies.

They also have their “Sky News All Stars” and “Sky News Digital Originals” series on YouTube which are just blatantly conspiratorial, transphobic, homophobic and pandering to the right-wing lunatics that fuel their social engagement. Lots of them are very America-focused as well, so they know where the audience is coming from. 44 videos are hidden from their All Stars playlist, which usually means the video has been removed or made private but hasn’t actually been taken out of the playlist. I wonder why they’re gone…

The output on linear might have changed (probably because ACMA will be on their ass now that they’re on FTA), but they’ve just shifted all of the more extreme stuff to YouTube.

Didn’t he post here once upon a time?

I don’t know. I just remember him being that outspoken teen who would talk politics on the project years and years ago. Now he’s just a Paul Murray clone. The level of vitriol to anyone in Labor is just over the top.

Back before he was sucked into the News Corpse vortex.

Just seeing some of Rowan Dean’s antics on his show sprouting his ‘opinions’ says it all about him and his vile ideologies more than anything. A condescending prick is probably too nice of a description for him.

gosh is he still around? I remember reading some of his “satire” years ago and honestly my head hurt afterwards.

He thinks he’s a comedian but he’s really the train in a trainwreck.
