Sky News

Here we go again…

You really think that Seven owned by Kerry Stokes and Nine chaired by Peter Costello are safe havens for the left? I had no idea the likes of Sunrise, Today and ACA were such rabid lefties.

Ten has The Project but even Hamish and Waleed have skewed questioning that indicates they aren’t as left as their show’s reputation might imply, and PVO apart from scoring the occasional scoop has firmly nailed his allegiance to the Libs.

And 10 have the likes of Steve Price that graces their screens weekly (and they had KAK and Joe Hildebrand for many years). On Nine and Seven they always get the likes of Ben Fordham, Neil Mitchell and Ron Wilson to commentate on things and I wouldn’t say they skew left either. Not to mention Nine radio where the likes of Hadley continues to run wild 5 times a week.

I’d say there’s almost too much right wing stuff on FTA.

But every weeknight Paul Murray says all media are part of the woke left…

Anyone left of Pauline Hanson is the woke extreme left apparently.

I am not sure these nutters on sky and fox know this isn’t really an insult - to be conscious of social issues and be empathetic to the injustices of the marginalised and those less fortunate. The right have made the word to be considered something akin to socialism is really beyond the pale. They use to to gaslight people that clearly have more empathy than them is clearly their motive. Pathetic and sad.

I’ll defend PVO in a professional sense - I genuinely find it hard to nail down his stance. He can go either way and generally think he’s pretty centrist.

Waleed - centre left.

Same. He’s broken some significant stories about the coalition this year.

Also agree about Waleed. But The Project itself as a production is another story.

I think PVO is one of those rare political journalists/commentators who generally calls ‘balls and strikes’ (ie; he’ll criticize politicians/parties of all persuasions when he thinks it’s warranted).

Rita Panahi, whilst not everyone’s cup of tea, seems to be very popular amongst viewers.

55k viewers in the 9pm slot last night (compare this to Piers who only got 28k last Thursday).

Also, a video was posted to YouTube only one hour ago (of Rita attacking Joe Biden), and it already has 30k views.

Most if not all of those views would be from the US then.

Their YouTube channel is an entirely different kettle of fish and a surprising success for them. Rita has a huge US following on there, mostly because she regurgitates the same bullshit as Fox News and other right-wing US media. Thankfully she wouldn’t even have half the appeal here - probably because we are a more educated progressive country than the US.

Rita Panahi is the elitist hack who complained that there were paper plates in the Qantas business class lounge last week. She actually blamed QANTAS’ “woke” agenda for the reason they don’t have a working dishwasher hence the use of paper plates.

She’s completely unhinged. How she thinks she relates to the people when her biggest issues are the plates in a business class lounge. She’s horrendous as are her hate filled views.

She might get rapped over the knuckles due to the Qantas News agreement with Sky News if they decide to pull it over out-of-touch comments like that.

How one conflates a broken dishwasher with a woke agenda is beyond me? This is how unhinged these people are. They just continually deflect and project their own ideology onto every aspect of society. It’s bizarre stuff.

I’d wager they’re all from the alt-right loonies arena of America who lives and breathe by OANN, Fox News and Newsmax and think everything that isn’t extreme right wing is a threat to the way of life. They have nothing better to do so they listen to some nobody rant about right wing agendas because no one else gives two hoots about them and their sad political ideologies.

I should just clarify that the video was on Sky News Australia’s YouTube page. Therefore you’d think only a few of the viewers would be Americans, and the vast majority would be Aussies. Now at 70k views after 3 hours.

You’d be surprised at the power of the internet. Anyone can google something like ‘Joe Biden Woke’ or ‘Joe Biden mentally unstable’ and things from Sky AU pop up in relation to that. The number of people watching it because it’s Sky News is minimal, most are there for the opinions, agendas and rants.

The other day The Guardian had an article about the reach of Sky News Australia digitally and it found that most of the viewers of the website are from America and most are only there for Alan Jones, Paul Murray and Andrew Bolt whenever they talk about Biden.

It’s been widely reported that the sky news YouTube pages gains most of its audience from the US. Normal Australians can’t stomach that shit. As Tom_tv7 has stated it’s all the nutters from over there salivating at the stupid shit Rita says.

Surely the content of the video and the resulting commentary is enough of an indicator as to where the audience comes from?

Seriously?

Appealing to an American audience is a key part of the YouTube strategy for Sky, and has been for a number of years now.
