Sky News (2016-Feb 2025)

Their actual news is quite good. And there"s a clear distinction to the “after dark” shows now.

What a way to denigrate a woman. She’s done her time in the news department, and if she’s been offered a promotion and more money to move to the evening shows then good on her.

^ Have been waiting all night for you to chime in :upside_down_face:

The member never mentioned anything about her being a woman?

It was criticism about her presentation skills? Also one that’s warranted as I’m sure even the most loyal Sky News viewers would agree that her yelling (for a lack of a more politer term) would be stronger than double shot coffee.

My criticism isn’t directed at her gender. It was directed at her terrible delivery where she constantly yells. This is a media critique site and therefore I’m reviewing her horrendous ability at being able to present. She doesn’t have to yell constantly. It’s really off putting. If a male was yelling I would say the same thing.

You’re only defending her because she’s a right wing lunatic

Speaking of Danica De Giorgio - she, Andrew Bolt and Sky News are now being sued by lawyer Adam Houda

Even if she is yelling, does it really warrant calling her a ‘disaster’ and ‘embarrassment to her profession’.? If her bosses had a problem with it then they would’ve told her to rein it in.

And again, do you really need to label her as a ‘lunatic’ because she’s right-wing?? Criticism is one thing but I think you’ve taken it a bit too far IMO.

The yelling is what made me turn the volume down on the tv set. I would almost certainly thibk she should at least stop yelling if she was to be taken seriously . Sky News has the reputation of over the top opinions and dramatics with the opinion shows . I am sure she is not the only who does it .

As for the comment attacking her because of her gender , there was no such attack in the post rather criticising her delivery which to be fair is shocking.

I’m also not sure why you would portray the comment as something more than it was .

Agree, she’s not the only one that does it, there was a Ch10 female presenter who used to yell (to a lesser degree), but modified her style as she was more comfortable/more exposure.

There could be any number of reasons why someone might do it, mistaking volume for clarity, speaking with authority, lack of confidence, the list goes on.

I’ve noticed it does seem to happen in more straight news presentation, rather than discussion/general presenting.

I think one of the key points is that the style for Danica style hasn’t gotten more comfortable to watch after many years.

Regardless of what channel I’m watching or the presenter doing it, I find the style offputting - just give me the news, don’t treat it all as a headline that needs to be yelled on a street corner from someone selling newspapers 100 years ago.

Sky News does not generally respect women. If they did they would never have hired presenters that said female politicians should be given a backhander or dropped out at sea in a chaff bag.

I don’t think that calling a Sky News presenter out for being a female and a yeller is sexist or denigrating. If Danica is not yelling when she’s on Sky, I’d hate to hear her actually raising her voice.

This is the same network that is all worked up about Woolworths not selling Australia Day merchandise, yet they cancel their Christmas party because on of the presenters was allegedly (edited for legal reasons) female staff.

Sky News: Opinion over Fact.

The after dark programs have delusions of reality.

Constructive feedback is fine, of course.

Using OTT terms like “lunatic” adds nothing to the discussion and apart from that, the word itself is now considered an ableist slur.
