“it’s time for a different path” he says
Why come here and bag Sky News?
Don’t you like the pushback??
Why come here for the first time in seven months and reply to a 3 week old post looking to pick a fight?
Anyway did I see Jess Yates anchoring today?
Fill-in. Ruby Schleicher could be used at some stage. Sky and Fox Sports News use the same building in Melbourne
Because it’s a discussion forum haha
what pushback?
And Sydney. And everywhere.
Were these in reference to FSN spots? Or actual Sky News?
Sky News Melbourne reporter Jack Nyhof is doing an excellent job. Always across the detail and bringing new information often live to air.
He previously reported for Sky from NZ and live from the Cook Islands during the recent PM visit.
He reminds me of a young David Speers in some ways. I could see him moving to the Canberra bureau and a wider role down the track.
Such a shame Sky doesn’t have a bulletin of record.
A chance to showcase all their reporters. Just one half hour at 6:30 or something and then on demand They’ve got a lot of reporting talent but you’re not going to see or hear from them unless you’re watching during the day which obviously most people aren’t.
Interesting to see the new promo for Sharri has announced her new timeslot of 8pm Mon-Thurs, a considerable promotion from her 5pm show.
This means Chris Kenny is out of primetime. He may fill the 5pm slot? The guide is yet to be updated.
Interesting. Maybe back to a news hour at 5pm.
Chris Kenny was always going to be in trouble after being one of the very few at that place to support The Voice
Hi Jack welcome back to MS
I agree, as i tend to watch Sky News during the daytime, then switch over to the dull ABC24 in the evenings to avoid the nighttime anger speech of Sky After Dark which is nothing but wall to wall negative people speaking in angry mode all the time.
If only SKY News Australia had an evening News bulletin somewhere, even on one of their multi-channels, and I don’t mean at midnight either.
According to his Twitter, he’s on his way back. Just a brief stint back in Melbourne it seems.
Two things I think Sky News really needs:
- A revamped Breakfast show 5.30am-9 that is not headline news
- A primetime flagship newscast at an Alt. time such as 9. 930 or 10pm
Hmm… aren’t we constantly being told the opinion is there because it rates? If anything I think it’s more likely that they go the GB News route of all opinion, all the time.
Agree, I think a 5-8:30 show with Agenda following makes sense. Is First Edition with solo Pete much more than headlines?
News at 10 would be good.
I don’t think there is anything to suggest news does not rate. The most watched shows on Aussie TV are straight newscasts. Sky has straight news for an hour right now in summer at 9pm. And 11pm and all day. If straight news was that much of a turn off they would not feature so much of it. Carving out 30 minutes for a flagship news bulletin would bring a little bit of diversity to the primetime lineup and might bring some new viewers in.
