Special coverage on Channel 7 and 7plus
Join the Seven Network on Wednesday, 30 March, as the world farewells Shane Warne, with live, commercial-free coverage of the State Memorial Service from 7.00pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
Coverage will begin immediately following 7NEWS , live to the MCG in Melbourne where family, friends and former teammates will gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of the Australian cricketing great, in front of a 40,000 strong crowd.
Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Network Head of Sport, Lewis Martin said: “Warnie was in so many ways just like all of us, the only difference was that he was one of the greatest cricketers of all time. We are proud to broadcast this service commercial-free to all Australians as we pay tribute to an incredible life and legend who gave so much to his sport and his country.”
So Seven will be showing a delayed telecast on the main channel outside of Sydney and Melbourne.

Seven should show the state memorial live into Adelaide on TV. It’s only 30 minutes time difference.

Ten will be airing the Shane Warne Memorial Service live and ad free from 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday. Perth viewers will see the service live on Bold.

It will be shown live in Brisbane and Adelaide (in contrast to Seven’s coverage) on the mainc channel. Brisbane news will finish at 6pm with the memorial going up again 6pm news on Seven and Nine.

ABC News channel will show the Shane Warne Memorial Service live nationally from 7pm to 9.30pm AEDT on Wednesday. ABC Australia will air the service live across Asia-Pacific region at the same time.
NT will also get Seven’s coverage on delay according to online guides. It will of course stream live on 7plus.

Pretty sure I read somewhere (can’t remember the publication) that airing the memorial ad-free is a condition for networks being allowed to show it.

I don’t know why, i just thought it would be a day service, like most memorials seem to be?
Being a night time event surprises me. I know it will mean more people can attend though.
