Shares are worth barely 0.20 cents. Their value has halved in the last year. They have not paid a dividend since 2017. The stock is junk.

Yeah…just the few are public. But the toxicity runs right through the business, under a smokescreen of People & Culture feelgood campaigns and perks.

Seven welcomes the newest David Leckie Seven Scholarship Program winner

Seven West Media is pleased to announce and welcome the third recipient of the annual David Leckie Seven Scholarship Program: Alessandro Rosini.

A recent graduate of Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in media and communications (majoring in journalism), Alessandro joins Seven West Media today and will initially work in the Sydney digital division. He follows in the footsteps of previous scholarship recipients Madeline McKeown and Nuwan Ranasinghe.

The David Leckie Seven Scholarship Program was set up in late 2012 to honour the career and legacy of the late David Leckie, former Seven West Media Chief Executive Officer.

The program offers a 12-month role at Seven West Media for a graduate with a passion for sales, programming or news. It was set up in partnership with Skye Leckie and David and Skye’s sons, Harry and Ben.

The selection process is overseen each year by Skye, Harry and Ben Leckie and senior Seven West Media executives.

Skye, Harry and Ben Leckie said: “We are greatly honoured that Kerry Stokes and Seven provide this wonderful program for a young person.

“Alessandro is an outstanding individual and we are so thrilled for him to have this extraordinary opportunity. It’s a chance for him to be able to fulfill his dream and be immersed in the ever-changing media world.

“David had many loves during his years in media, but TV was his #1. We are thrilled that his legacy can continue and allow others to have the experience of working in TV. Thank you to Jeff and the team at Seven for yet again finding such impressive candidates for this great scholarship program,” they said.

Seven West Media Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Howard, said: “Alessandro was an outstanding candidate and is a really deserving recipient of this year’s scholarship. He is passionate about the media business, highly motivated and very keen to learn.

“David was a legendary leader at Seven and in the media industry, and his legacy lives on in the many people in our business he mentored, the content and strategies he championed, and the passion for media he instilled in everyone he met. It also lives on in this scholarship program, which is both a tribute to David and a great way for Seven to support and develop new recruits.

“It’s great to welcome Alessandro to Seven today and along with Skye, the Leckie family and the entire Seven team, I wish him every success,” he said.

So not 7News then…

so not annual then?

Was established in 2021 so it is correct, 3rd winner.

2012 date is incorrect.

Christopher Fifer, national head of program partnerships at 7RED, tells Mediaweek more on 7CIC:

7CIC is a product we are debuting with Dream Home and LG is the first brand to be partnered with it. The product will also be something we will use throughout the year across all new Seven programs.

An important thing for us is ensuring that if something is not enhancing the viewer experience, we don’t use it because it otherwise just becomes cloudy.

We are also making sure that we use it at the right time. We’ve discussed religiously as a team to make sure that it’s not just used, it’s used contextually and used at the right moment. It won’t be pop-ups that happen in pivotal moments, but will be organically used for customers to shop products they have seen used throughout the renovations on the show.

Seven renews exclusive Visa partnership

The Seven Network is excited to announce the extension of its market-leading data partnership with Visa, including the addition of three new segments: luxury brands and stores, SMB owners and seasonal shoppers.

Seven is the only media business to offer Visa customer insights, after working with the financial services business to build a data solution visualised by 7REDiQ before being made available to advertisers. Marketers can leverage the data to target audiences across Seven’s digital platforms.

As part of the partnership, Seven will also tap insights from Visa economists to provide foresight on upcoming disposable income.

Seven’s Director of Audience Development and Growth, Andrew Brain, said: “Our partnership with Visa provides the single most in-demand dataset for advertisers in Seven’s arsenal. We’re thrilled to extend the partnership and expand our data to include new, highly valuable segments.

“All of this ladders up to our overall strategy to ensure 7REDiQ continues to provide the market with the most advanced, intuitive and innovative guidance when advertisers are seeking maximum efficacy with minimum wastage.”

Visa’s Head of Consulting and Analytics for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, David Peacock, said: “Visa’s transaction data provides valuable insights on where and how Australians are spending their disposable income. We know these insights are incredibly valuable for advertisers looking to target audiences with the utmost precision. What Seven is offering with 7REDiQ is an incredibly powerful solution and we’re excited to extend our partnership for another year.

“Visa is developing ways to enhance our insights even further by extending the reach of our data into new categories that will give us an even broader view of Australians’ spending habits.”
