what’s so special about 9 now?
Welcome back sir. We’ve been wondering where all the Seven support posts have been in recent days
Former Fairfax executive Greg Hywood has been employed to undertake a review of the Perth newspapers, with an aim to move them to a “digital first” strategy where stories are published on the website before they appear in print. At this stage Hywood’s job appears to be a one-off project.

SMH adds that Hywood will work with Seven’s Western Australia chief executive Maryna Fewster but will also report directly to Seven chief executive and managing director, James Warburton. It is unclear how long Hywood will work with the Perth newspapers.
The West Australian has apologised for publishing an old comic strip series Modesty Blaise that on Monday contained a derogatory word to refer to Aboriginals, in addition to using the word Aborigine which is considered by many to be offensive due to its colonial usage.
The West Australian published a second apology on the front page of today’s paper, for publishing the offensive Modesty Blaise cartoon on Monday’s edition.
That‘s a problem with outsourcing. I am sure no one even checks the content half the time due to “deadlines” or lack of personnel or costcutting.
But really not a plausible excuse. If you have any pride in what you produce, it must be reviewed prior to print exactly so nothing unintended sneaks through - there’ll always be 1 in 100 that will sneak through if you don’t take appropriate precautions.
Would there be a sub-editor or someone who at least quickly (tries) to review their section/areas?
It is understood James Warburton’s team is set to tap Grant Samuel to find a buyer for Seven West Ventures, which includes the network’s stakes in Airtasker, Health Engine and SocietyOne.
Good god, seven is axing literally EVERYONE!
It doesn’t make sense for Seven to sack all switchboard operators.
Why? Lots of companies do it, and switch to automation.
Terrible move IMO, but an effective cost saving for the company.
How many office staff are still using a landline that needs an operator to switch calls through? Calls to our office go through a menu and are diverted to the appropriate group. It has been this way for about 15 years. Calls are now answered on your laptop rather than a landline so you can answer them from home if that’s where you’re working.
Who am I supposed to call and complain to when shows start late or Seven slaps the wrong classification advisory on one of their programs and I catch a glimpse of a woman’s exposed chest before 8pm?
Or a bum? Or you hear a naughty word? Or there’s a same sex kissing scene in Home and Away?
I saw an exposed ankle on the network the other day. I would like to complain.
At least Danny still seems to be on the payroll!
That’s the point.
