Nine in Sydney reaches the 21 week milestone for the full hour of the bulletin (though not at 6:30pm yet). Nine Brisbane has its lowest survey week since March and Seven Melbourne gets closer to tying the year so far.
Though, as I mention (incessantly) yearly wins are usually based on average audiences (rather than weeks won) so the table below shows Melbourne and Brisbane are very close by that measure as well.
29 years actually. 1990 was the last time Seven News lost the year in Perth, in fact, [National] Nine News won all five markets individually that year.
Does anyone think Todayās terrible ratings in Sydney have to do with the gap between Nine News and Seven News in this market gradually shrinking?
Nine News won in Sydney this week by an average margin of only 8.5K across the hour.
From what I can think, Jessica Braithwaite is the only meteorologist employed by Nine, but she is still on maternity leave and I canāt see her leaving Adelaide anytime soon.
Split decision again in Melbourne with Seven winning across the hour to bring the bulletins tied on weeks won. Both Brisbane bulletins rating higher than the same week last year.
Seven News Melbourneās second half is doing brilliantly. If Seven can capitalise on The Chase lead-in AND fix up the first half of the bulletin it should be able to win more weeks this year.
A long way to go still, but, Seven News Melbourne passes Nineās bulletin in weeks won; a huge achievement. Overall, poor week for Nine with drops across all bulletins at 6pm and 6:30pm.
Currently, in Melbourne, on the numbers I have, Nine still leads Seven in the average audience across the ratings year but the gap is down to 3,000.
This weeks sees Seven News Brisbane achieve 20 wins at 6pm and is just one week away across the hour.
Not the best week for Nine with its lowest average since February. The usual erratic numbers in Brisbane with Nine having a win on Monday then losing the rest by large margins while in Melbourne, Nine won on Thursday and in Sydney, Seven won on Tuesday going against the results for the rest of the week.
This weeks sees Seven News Brisbane achieve 21 wins at 6pm even though Nine won across the hour - Iām sure Nine will be assessing which promos/segments worked the best this week to help them to a win.
Another win for Seven in Melbourne, with the comparison to this week last year very revealing.
Just for this week - here are the week 35 numbers from 2017 and 2016
With the recent turn around in Melbourne, it would be interesting to see if 9 have lost there younger audience in comparison to 7 holding the older audience?
Lots of red this week. Both Perth bulletins recording their lowest bulletin numbers for the year on Thursday thanks to competition from AFL. Also big drops for Seven in Sydney (13,000) and Melbourne (24,000). This saw Sevenās average at a 6 month low and a win for Nine in Melbourne. In Brisbane, Nine had the week won until a big loss on Friday reversed the situation.
It appears that David Brownās absence from the weather has been hurting Seven News Sydney with Nineās ratings recently increasing during the 6.30pm portion of the bulletin. Interestingā¦
Are you suggesting once viewers see the small 6:20pm weather update on Seven News and itās not David Brown that they are then turning to Nine or turning off completely?
