Mel McLaughlin hosting morning (or at least the preview hour)
I really miss the studio in front of Rod Laver, I believe last year they didn’t have it either? Due to more international broadcasters?
The plasma behind Mel I’m assuming is one of the production “studios” (box without a window). While the image they are using looks nice, I hope it’s not the main hosting studio for the coverage. Those caps from 2006 show how awesome that window to Rod Laver as a backdrop is.
So 7flix are taking the main channel feed in Perth?
The two 7TennisHD offerings left showing what’s on Seven and the right showing what’s on 7Two/7mate.
Think they have a studio there but for some strange reason, it only seems to be used for the interviews Seven does with the women’s and men’s champion after the final
7Two Perth - showing the 7mate feed I think?
Which should end in 5min and go to 7mate, as 7flix goes to main channel.
Channel change message on 7flix Perth
That “static” background is terrible! Big fan of Seven’s coverage, but they’ve definitely taken several steps backwards with their sets & studio backgrounds in the last couple of years!
The main studio / set (set-up above ground outside Margaret Court Arena) is usually seen more in prime-time with Hamish, certainly after the finals trophies.
Remember there’s a few studios Seven use: there’s one in one of the stadiums, used during morning / arvo hosts.
I think I heard from the other room Todd Woodbridge’s voice. Is he hosting afternoon now?
Anyone know who’s hosting 7Two and 7mate?
Edit
Dave Culbert now hosting afternoon for 7mate.
Jim Courier expert commentating the Ebden v Isner feature match at Margaret Court Arena on the main channel now.
Alongside Basil Zempilas.
Todd Woodbridge still hosting.
NB/
A “progress score” that appeared in the bottom said a certain match was on “7Two”, which was incorrect. It’s on 7mate.
Jim Wilson now hosting the remainder of afternoon (as of ~3:30pm) on main channel.

Any reason why prime-time secondary channel has swapped from 7Two last year to 7mate this year?
Looking back, the Australian Open’s first week got ordinary ratings, beaten by BBL on a few nights, winning in shares only due to late night / multi-channels.
Because I know 7Two rates well during weeknights with its regular mysteries programming.
Think I’ve got this one guys.
It was a thought, but wasn’t sure if there was a better reason for the change.
