Her and Maddy both started off as fill-in presenters for the 10 News Local updates, IIRC. Kasey is now the Chief of Staff too.

Matthew Ricketson, a professor of communication at Deakin University, said independent local journalism must be free of political and commercial interests.

“We already know that the provision of locally gathered and reported news and current affairs in regional and rural Australia is stretched almost to breaking point,” Ricketson said.

OMG what a terrifying prospect, as if those local communities haven’t suffered enough.

If only we still had the ABT and the old-style regular licence renewal hearings to gauge fit and proper qualities of licence holders. Sadly long gone.

Murph crossing into 7 Tasmania at 6:26pm and 6:56pm (for the weather) tonight from Barnbougle, as part of a Tourism Tasmania intrastate travel campaign.

I wondered where he went to last week but forgot to check the YouTube to see. Last night Murph was in Ulverstone but he had been in the studio for the other nights so it looks like it might be a once a week thing.

Major story in Launceston today which warranted a watermark, exclusive bug, special studio graphics and a live cross.

It’s so nice to see the TV being used again, really hope they can use this more often as opposed to OTS

Nice when they pull out all the stops for a big story, looks really good.

Odd headline though… surely a man being killed is the lead not shots being heard?

Sadly, unlikely. They only use the screen for big stories. Which is a shame because it looks fantastic when they do.

Surely it wouldn’t be harder to make a few backdrop graphics per bulletin than it would to make traditional OTS?

Could it be that it’d need a camera operator in there to move the camera around?? Something that might not usually have?

Kim started the bulletin, then Nick Kelly read the remainder of the bulletin

Any inkling on air as to what happened?

Hope everything is alright, trying to work out whether Kim looked a bit worried or that’s just her professional newsreading face but I really hope that she and her family are ok if there’s something that’s happened there because it’s not common to leave midway through a bulletin. Well done to Nick for jumping in seamlessly and to be honest, many people probably wouldn’t have even noticed as he’s a familiar face and does a great job.

I know there’s a few 7Tas news people in the forums so if this is my last post for a bit, Merry Christmas to them and their families and a big thank you from us for delivering a quality news bulletin 7 nights a week. I hope that whatever 2025 brings for the station that it can all continue however it ends up looking.

I would suggest she lost her voice or something to that nature given she sounded quite congested and was staving of a cough during the first few stories. Just my take.
