Yep, Michael Maney back tonight. Nick Kelly doing sport live from Bellerive with the Big Bash game tonight and Jacqui Harvey doing weather.
Also, been a couple of new starters since Thursday’s bulletin. At least 2 new names on both Thursday and Friday and there may have been a third on Friday night but I only heard it was a new voice and name but could have been from a mainland story.
Yep, they sound right and the other one was a male voice but I’ll check the YouTube later and see if it was a Tas report or from elsewhere.
Speaking of YouTube, Kim gave a plug to that at the end of the news last night - whether it was part of a ramping up of reminding people about that or just something to fill up a few more seconds before joining back to the network feed I’m not sure but it was good for them to have.
I can’t believe I forgot about it, I went to the YouTube to finish watching after we’d been to the Devonport NYE thing and then remembered halfway through the weather and checked how much time was left! So glad that they still do these each year, they’re good for a laugh.
Should be able to see some of them from home, so counting down. Got one child staying up for his first ever midnight new years but the other one we definitely needed to get home to bed!
Happy New Year to you and also all 7Tas people that seem to frequent these forums.
Not going to lie it’s very bizarre they didn’t poach Brent Costelloe from WIN after Tom Johnson resigned to become the new sports reporter and they instead hired Nick Kelly from Nine News Queensland who is completely unknown to Tasmania. Tom Johnson would’ve become more familiar to Tasmania viewers in 2020.
At the end of Friday night’s bulletin Kiah Wicks said that Peter Murphy would be back on board next week for at least a couple of days. Well she was right about that as she was back on tonight lol
Yes, I noticed another new name. There seems to have been a few more reporters of late - wonder if others have left or there’s also just because of Christmas or if other changes for the other regions as well when their bulletins return.
Just caught up on tonight’s bulletin too - great to see quite a focus on the Devonport Cup. A news story with Nick Kelly and then Nick presented the sport live from Spreyton and then there was the additional footage used in the closing montage. Usually only Launceston and Hobart Cups get a decent coverage so was good to see Devonport shown quite a bit there.
Poaching talent isn’t just like picking up items from a supermarket shelf on a whim. And what’s to say they didn’t try, anyway? Maybe Mr Costelloe didn’t accept?
