Seven & Ten News (SCA)

That’s awesome, congrats! I won’t say it’s as good as if we found out Murph was here on the forums but great to actually know someone who is on the air! Looking forward to seeing more from you.

The 2 studios sets are Identical in most ways except for Hobart doesn’t have robot camera mounts and no side view.

I’m pretty sure the Hobart studio has the side view (with a very slightly different layout on the perspex wall IIRC), but they’ve only used it a small handful of times since the sets launched.

Which is a shame, they’ve got two fantastic sets but Spencer Gulf misses out showing it off.

Yeah… nah… Identical sets are the same.
One other way to tell its Hobart has no carpet on the floor, Launceston has carpet

3rd camera was in the grid… but the lens got used for something else

Nah…yeah… Hobart set doesn’t have vertical strips on the perspex wall, the Lonnie set does.

Very slight difference, that and the flooring. Otherwise, the sets are identical.

Because the bulletin (and channel) was branded as Southern Cross News at the time, rather than carrying their affiliate network branding.

Because Ten had switched to 5.00 news in Melbourne, Southern Cross maintained its news in the 6-7.00 hour and ran alternative programming between 5-6.00.

SCN Eyewitness News was a statewide “national news” bulletin that ran for 30 minutes. Bendigo and Gippsland markets got their local Southern Cross news in the other half hour but other markets carried programming on relay from Ten.

that was one long ident

They would have had to re-sync the individual feeds since only certain regions received local news, so likely stuck on the ident until it was ready to go.

Similar thing happened at CTC. They tried to move the locally produced news hour to 5pm. It lasted about 4 weeks, before the viewer complaints won out. Neighbours and Simpsons reruns ran between 5-6 after that for years. Though I think an awful US dating show called Studs was shown alongside Neighbours in the very early years. Basically just moved the network programs and hour earlier for a swapsie.

Would be cool to do one with all the different on air idents for CTC over the years
