Matt Logue’s Crosscourt article in today’s Herald Sun didn’t mention anything about Seven’s possible involvement with the NBL, so it is an online only article.

Channel 7 has emerged as a genuine option as a potential NBL broadcast partner with the network showing unprecedented levels of interest in Australian basketball.
With NBL broadcast rights up for grabs at the end of this season, high-ranking officials from Channel 7 have been spotted at multiple games in recent weeks as conversations between the two parties ramp up.
Crosscourt understands the NBL sees significant upside in a potential switch to Channel 7, given the network broadcasts major sports, including the AFL, cricket and horse racing.
Crosscourt has been told ESPN pays $17-18 million as the NBL’s major broadcast partner but the likes of Seven, Nine Network and Network 10 are all in talks with the league to muscle in.

Ten currently airs two free-to-air Sunday games, which has been popular, despite the broadcast cutting out prior to the completion of games for the past two weeks.
Aggrieved fans took to social media to vent frustrations after the broadcast ended prematurely during the round 10 clash between Sydney and Melbourne United and in round 11’s United v Brisbane game.
I would like to see the NBL following the NBA by having matches split between ESPN and two FTA broadcasters, rather than a single broadcaster exclusively.
No chance. The value just isn’t there to divide the limited games into three packages.
I’d be intrigued to see if Seven would take over production from the NBL, or whether it becomes a co-production between the two parties, or the current arrangement remains.
Huh? Every match I’ve seen has overrun and delayed the next program.
Current arrangement would remain you’d think.

The start of the Magic Millions carnival has been turned on its head, with Saturday’s Gold Coast meeting sensationally moved to the Sunshine Coast after their new track was poisoned.
In unprecedented scenes, Queensland racing officials have been forced to move the rich twilight meeting, which includes the $3m Sunlight slot race and $500,000 The Wave after jockeys raised concerns about the state of the track at the 500m point.
Officials were left stunned on Friday afternoon when they discovered part of the new track had suffered significant chemical damage.
It was determined it was vital to run the meeting on Saturday sticking to the planned twilight schedule, with the card having significant Magic Millions ramifications, through a pair of two-year-old races that shape as last chance saloon opportunities to get into the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next week.
It also throws Channel 7’s coverage of the much spruiked twilight meeting into disarray, with the network going to great lengths to broadcast it on free to air TV.
Hosting is continuing from the Gold Coast with the races run plus Hamish McLachlan and Daniel McPherson on the Sunshine Coast.
Caught the first 10 mins and it all just felt really flat, especially the music performance. Switched off after that.
A lot of the atmosphere was missing with performances at the Gold Coast where there were few people by the end of the night. Also featured Gold Coast tourism promos.
