Wimbledon coverage - via television and 7Tennis App
From Monday 27 June
Seven will undertake broadcast television coverage across Seven, 7TWO and 7mate of The Championships from Wimbledon commencing this Monday. Seven’s coverage will also be streamed live on the market-leading 7Tennis app for iOS and Android, building on the extraordinary success of Seven’s coverage of this year’s Australian Open. 7Tennis will also be available on Apple TV (4th Generation), Telstra TV and online at www.7tennis.com.au and live via PLUS7
The 7Tennis app for Wimbledon builds on the successful content and architecture created for Seven’s coverage of tennis over the past eighteen months and, beyond live-streaming of Seven’s coverage, will include live match scores, leading player profiles and select match highlights. Coupled with the 7Tennis app will be an expansion of Seven’s presence on social media across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
Clive Dickens, Seven West Media Chief Digital Officer, said: “The 7Tennis app captured the imagination of the Australian public this summer and we firmly expect our new update this winter will extend our coverage of live TV into the night on mobile in the bedroom.”
Kurt Burnette, Seven’s Chief Revenue Officer, Kurt Burnette, said: “Wimbledon is one of the world’s great sports events and we are delighted to deliver this premium content to our audiences and our marketing partners across television, online and mobile. This underlines our approach to our business: delivering major events to Australians, and our audiences to our advertising partners, across connected devices, driven by the power of television.”
Commenting, Saul Shtein, Seven’s Head of Sport, said: “We are making significant advances in our how we create and produce coverage of sports across television and indeed connected devices. Our success last year with our Seven and 7TWO broadcasts and streaming coverage of Wimbledon and The Australian Open, sees us move up yet another notch in a year in sports like no other with our upcoming coverage of the Olympic Games in Rio.”
It sucks my friend can watch Wimbledon in HD on ESPN over there in the US including all the Australian players while I am stuck with shitty quality 7TWO for aussie players while FOX Sports looks 10x better yet can’t simulcast the same match
There will be tennis on 7TWO tonight with the traditional rest day at Wimbledon used for finish matches which have been interrupted by rain in the past week. Telecast starts at 8.30pm AEST.
The draw for next year’s Rugby League World Cup will be held next Tuesday, July 19. Seven will show all 28 matches, played over five weeks around Australia and New Zealand, on the main channel or 7mate.
Seven , today confirmed an agreement for all-encompassing coverage of the Rugby League World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 27 October to 2 December 2017.
Seven’s agreement for the Rugby League World Cup 2017 delivers all rights in Australia including free-to-air broadcast television and subscription television rights, online, mobile, and expands to Seven’s digital and mobile platforms.
Seven has also been appointed to undertake the host broadcast for international television of all games played in Australia in the Rugby League World Cup 2017.
Michael Brown, Chief Executive Officer, Rugby League World Cup 2017 said: “The Seven Network is widely renowned as a leader in sports broadcasting and the Rugby League World Cup 2017 Organising Committee is excited by the opportunities that this partnership presents to both the tournament and the sport as a whole. Our securing of the Cup is yet another step in our development as we build the platforms to create our future. The Rugby League World Cup delivers our business an extraordinary opportunity to drive home our leadership as we broadcast the AFL Grand Final, the Melbourne Cup, the Rugby League World Cup, the Australian Open, the Olympic Winter Games and the Commonwealth Games across late 2017 and early 2018.”
Seven West Media Chief Revenue Officer, Kurt Burnette, said: “We could not be happier to have Rugby League here on Seven. The partnership with the Rugby League World Cup will see us not only create the global television coverage but also undertake the most far-reaching and expansive coverage of the Cup across television and connected devices. We are looking forward to being a partner with the Rugby League World Cup. It will be a remarkable event. And broadcast live in our primetime.”
The Rugby League World Cup 2017 fixture was announced this morning and can be seen here. The opening match in Melbourne will be held at AAMI Park, not Etihad Stadium, on Friday October 27 between Australia and England. There will be three double-headers in Cairns, Perth and Townsville on consecutive weekends.
The final will be played at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday, December 2.
The RLWC organisers are blaming the NSW Government and Destination NSW for not paying more money to secure big matches for Sydney
I think all matches will be shown in HD. By the time the tournament comes around, Seven will have settled on a full-time HD channel.
