Mainland 10Bold is still SD in Southern Cross markets too, no doubt TAS as well with the SCA/WIN JV?
The only place, albeit a JV with Imparja where 10Bold is HD is on VAST. But on VAST, main channel is only SD, same for Southern Cross 7 Central and Imparja 9. But respective 7mate and 9Gem are HD on VAST.
Surprising if so. Didnât Tassie switch to fully MPEG4? (except main SD channels)?
7mate is SD in all 7-affiliate SCA markets Darwin, Tasmania, Spencer Gulf/Broken Hill, except remote central and vast satellite. where 7mate is HD but the main channel is still SD.
Broadcasting 7mate in HD, as well as the 7flix and 7bravo channels, would mean upgrading racks of equipment. Something SCA doesnât want to spend the $ on.
Thats not exactly right⌠money is the reason but
The reason is the last numpty that did the affiliation deal decided to pay %10 more and the only extra they got was 7mate ⌠when they questioned only SD, seven wanted more money for Mate HD
Wouldnât be that hard to do in Darwin, Tasmania and Spencer Gulf/Broken hill markets given they are played out from NPC.
Apparently SCA in Hobart produces news bulletins for 7 in Darwin.
Does anyone have any examples of these? What time do they go to air etc. I thought Darwin took 7 Melbourne news.
SCA owns 7 Darwin. The updates go out at various times each weekday.
Would love to see what they look like.
7 Darwin does take the Melbourne news, but SCA (the owners) also produces short local news updates out of their Hobart or Launceston studios to air during ad breaks through the day and evening in Darwin.
They do similar updates for remote Australia on 7 Central.
Wonder if they would consider doing updates for the Spencer Gulf and Broken Hill if they can somehow justify doing updates for 7 Central.
They used to but stopped.
Did they? I thought they havenât done any local updates since the local bulletin was axed.
My guess would be that the Spencer Gulf and Broken Hill still get state news from the Adelaide bulletin. Central (unless youâre in remote NSW or Victoria) and Darwin have no equivalent bulletin.
Doesnât make it any less disappointing though.
No legal requirement for them to do so.
Neither is there one for Darwin and Central.
Mt Barrow had a lengthy outage yesterday, anyone know for how long?
Apparently was off during the 6pm 7News Tasmania bulletin?
Not sure how long it was off for but I didnât know until it was mentioned in the news bulletin and Iâm pretty sure Iâd been watching The Chase earlier on there. Even though we live in Devonport, we still get our TV from Mt Barrow.
Word on the street is 7Two and 7mate in Darwin will move to MPEG-4 on July 1 to accomodate TVSN.
