Is it just me, or does it seem like the majority of the offices Prime7 vacates are taken over by accountants or something?

And speaking of offices here’s a much bushier Prime7 Lismore office from around 2008:

What’s wrong with it? I mean apart from Harvey Norman

I think it would suit better if the logo of prime blend in.

The sizing and alignment. But then, that’s always been an issue with the Prime7 logo

Prime Possum is fat and ugly…
I can’t remember the rest. :stuck_out_tongue:

Considering Catalno (along with his business partner Alex Waislitz) is expected to own nearly 20% of Prime, you would think this all but ends any chance Seven has to merge with Prime (at least for the foreseeable future)

Maybe for the right price (didn’t Catalano complain that sevens original offer undervalued Prime?)

The transaction will only go ahead if ACMA agrees to allow “Prior approval of transactions that result in an unacceptable media diversity situation coming into existence” under Section 61AJ of the Broadcasting Services Act. ACMA normally only gives prior approval for a breach if there is a plan to remedy the breach. So the question is will Catalano sell the required newspapers? Shutting them down to avoid a breach would be illegal, I think.

… but would it be a breach? … in regional areas there are required to be 4 “voices” rather than the 5 in metro and so if he controls Prime and a newspaper, there are still two other television controllers - WIN and SCA and whatever radio ownership - SCA, Grants or Caralis so that still adds up to 4 doesn’t it?

A market with Prime TV/ACM print, WIN TV and SCA TV/radio would be only 3 voices. Can’t think off the top of my head whether any such markets actually exist.

Wagga Wagga?

SCA - radio/TV
ACM/Prime - newspaper/TV
WIN - TV

Section 61AJ allows for 2 years to be resolved - he could commit to a sale and then attempt to persuade the Government to change the law

I think Wagga Wagga might be the only impacted market. All other markets in Vic/NSW where SCA has stations also a station owned by another company.

So in theory ACM could sell off its newspaper in Wagga Wagga and a sale for Prime7 could proceed?

The other radio licence area is Bendigo. It is the same as Wagga Wagga.

4 voices after proposed sale.

Prime7/ACM - Prime7/Bendigo Advertiser
Grant - Gold Central Victoria
SCA - Nine/Hit/Triple M
WIN - WIN

Wagga Wagga doesn’t have a third or fourth commercial radio licence like the vast majority of it’s viewing audience.
