I’m pretty sure they have already closed. Don’t know why they are still airing it.
That’s because at the time this was recorded, they were relaying 9Gem Sydney into Wollongong.
From 6am-12am it’s a local feed of Nine for the Wollongong area, and then from 12am-6am it’s just a plain dirty feed (complete relay) of Nine from Sydney, this also applies to the multichannels.
I had scheduled a 9Go recording once for overnight hoping there would be a heap of regional ads, but when I scanned through the recording, I quickly learnt that this was just a plain dirty relay of Sydney.
SC10 ran Home Shopping infomercials during ad breaks aired after midnight until their final program finished and they went into Home Shopping mode, no regional advertising seen there.
Seven is the only network to show a localised feed 24/7, featuring regional ads, although (on 7HD and 7mateHD) the ones they air can get a bit repetitive after a while if you see the ones they air overnight.
Google says they’re still open…
Oh. It looked closed when i drove past on Tuesday that’s why i said it.
Did 7twoHD’s regional launch go under the radar for us?
Nope - was noted here:
7 Canberra are currently airing a new version of their “Broadcast Scheduler job applications” ad. The intro has a different background, both the music and show clips were changed and the correct Seven logo is used throughout.
They should launch a half-hour local news bulletin for Canberra at 6pm, I mean, they’re broadcasting from Canberra, so maybe they should have a bulletin presence there instead of just noodle updates.
No wonder why local advertisers have flocked over to WIN News.
I was always under the impression that the 7 news bulletin from Sydney rated very well in Canberra. If that’s the case, why change it?
I suspect if the financials worked they’d have done something in Canberra (and possibly in Newcastle and Wollongong) but the lack of movement suggests something doesn’t stack up.
Exactly!
When they dropped Prime Local news and took the Seven Sydney bulletin live instead, ratings went up. And has remained the top rating slot for Seven (Prime) at that time of evening ever since. Why stuff it up by bringing back an el-chaepo and shoddily produced steaming pile of hokeyness.
i think that it could be a its time thing though. Its been a good 23 years of so since Prime dropped the bulletin and perhaps the timeshift example of WIN News in Southern NSW, Victoria and QLD could be a sign. in Regional QLD and Regional Victoria and Wagga/Orange Win News does not compete with Seven Local News. it could be time to take on Nine News/NBN News at 6pm in the markets without coverage.
If WIN suddenly dropped local news in Canberra and Wollongong then I’d say it’s very likely Seven would seriously invest in local news. It’s arguable if Nine would continue local news if they bought the WIN Network.
Newcastle has always been tough against a very strong NBN. As we’ve seen with the Gold Coast, it’s great they gave it a red hot go but at the end of the day these have to be commercial decisions.
Only 4 Markets for 7Two Regional. Tamworth, Wagga, Shepparton and WA Sat
Google says they’re still open…
Oh. It looked closed when i drove past on Tuesday that’s why i said it.
I checked on Google again and to this very day, it seems Brescia Furniture is still open. I wonder if they faked a Closing Down Sale like those Persian Carpet Gallery shops who always had Closing Down Sales but never actually closed down?
or HomeArt for a number of years before it finally did
Highly unlikely. Why stuff up the current wins in the 6pm slot by dumping the 7Sydney 6pm bulletin with a 2nd rate on-the-cheap local bulletin with none of the resources of a metro bulletin. In any case, the metro networks do not view Canberra as a metro market. It has always been and always will be seen as part of the wider NSW country regional market.
