There will always be market variations due to viewer preferences. As an example, there are network market variations for live sport, region specific programs etc across regional and metro markets. You will rarely have consist schedules across the network. For the most part, news broadcasts will air at a regular time across all markets, but even then there are exceptions to the rule
SWM couldn’t really change anything during the first 2 years of ownership as the transmitter equipment they inherited at each site wasn’t MPEG-4 ready. It’s only been 6 months or so since they swapped out all the old stuff for new stuff. They now have the capacity to launch more services on all of their owned & operated sites. Not sure why they didn’t coincide the changes with launching 7Bravo and 7flix, but they could be in the pipeline.
It seems that Seven Regional is starting down the same path as SCA did by having BAI fully manage regional transmitter sites. Prime had already outsourced maintenance and monitoring to BAI but retained ownership of equipment. BAI’s “fully managed” model generally means BAI owns the transmitter.
Interesting that Black Mountain Tower in Canberra is the first for Seven Regional as it was also one of the first for SCA. My memory of whether Black Mountain Tower or Lookout Hill, Ballarat was first for SCA is a bit hazy now…they were the precursors to the whole set of transmitters getting sold to BAI in the outsourcing agreement.
Seven’s website mentions that 7two HD will be launching in regional NSW & Victoria later this year:
A bit disingenuous in my view for the ad to say that if your TV isn’t compatible, you need to replace your TV. You can still pick up set top boxes for less than $50.
I wonder if fetch will finally get rid of the Prime7 logo when the change happens?
That just gives the m3u8 feeds for 7two Sydney and Melbourne an even bigger advantage, because the Metros currently don’t carry the 7twoHD service. The links that are still active for 7two Sydney and Melbourne are both in 1080p FHD.
Here’s an example: Regional areas got 9Go in FHD first, occurring on 6th December 2023, when WIN Television converted it into an MPEG-4 HD channel. The metros got it on Channel 99 in MPEG-4 HD only 5 months later on 8th May 2024.
Looks like those in Geelong (for example) wanting to watch the new 7twoHD service will need to receive the Ballarat signals. There are some who take advantage of these signals, mostly due to being in elevated areas of Geelong, but most will probably just continue watching 7two in 576p.
Same deal for Warragul residents, the Traralgon service is now needed to receive the new 7twoHD service, unless you don’t care about picture quality.
As for New South Wales residents, some areas of Sydney are covered by the Wollongong transmissions, so reception of 7twoHD there shouldn’t be too difficult, although most of Sydney probably won’t get the new channel easily without the right antenna systems needed to receive such said transmissions.

It says “may need to”…
Never heard a website read out with the full stops rested on lol. Transmission (pause) dot Seven etc.
Why?
What do you mean?
I think we need to get someone from Queensland to confirm if 7two currently has “HD” in its LCN name.
In Regional QLD it is 7Two HD [Region]
But that was because 7twoHD existed at the same time as the SD service until Nov. 2022. That might be why it still has the name.
Not sure if this is the right place, but I’m staying on the Gold Coast and the hotel I’m at as 2 channel 7s.
One is showing the news from Brisbane and the other is showing the news from Sydney. No day light savings in Queensland so odd the Sydney news is on at the same time.
Any explanations?
Prior to aggregation in the 90s, Gold Coast got the Brisbane channels + NRTV from the Northern Rivers in NSW. When aggregation occurred, the other two stations in Northern NSW argued that they should be allowed to expand into the Gold Coast, hence why there are two channel 7’s, 9’s etc.
As for Sydney news on delayed, IIRC there was something about Prime7 showing a M rated film at a time before M-Rated films were allowed to be shown (as the NSW stations ran according to NSW time), which then lead to complaints with the regulator which lead to them saying that they have to observe the local time zone.
As for why Sydney news is shown, I guess it is most likely Seven wanting to protect it’s Brisbane ratings.
If I have got any of the above wrong, feel free to correct me.
That’s pretty much all spot on.
From 1992-97, Prime and Ten NNSW showed programs one hour earlier until the “Pulp Fiction” incident as you referred to.
NBN switched to a delayed feed a year earlier under pressure from Nine.
