It’s a refresh at least. The last look was over 3 years old.
Got another one here for “First Dates” - Also recorded the Home & Away promo that someone shared caps of above but I haven’t uploaded that yet!
Here’s some more of the seemingly new graphics,
MKR Promo 'The Battlers’
Someone above said the logo looks flat now, I saw this earlier and not sure if it’s just me but the 7TWO logo does look a bit more flat than ‘3D’ or textured at the end screen of this promo
MKR Promo ‘The Cops’ with an updated MKR Sponsor billboard at the end, featuring the arrow theme
Finally, Home & Away Feb 1 promo
It’s a start at least. I would prefer a totally new look from them this time though (same with their News as that looks very tired also).
If the News look changes it will more likely happen around 1 Feb to coincide with the new ratings year.
I have always liked 7’s more minimalist and less intrusive approach to their station branding but agree it was time for a bit of a revamp. Need to see more of it but I don’t mind what I have seen so far. Will be interesting to see what other functions that little arrow will have in other potential repackaging of any news shows.
Remember the rumours about February 2 last year (a date also heavily emphasised in Seven’s On-Air Promotion) which eventuated into nothing in the end?
Somehow, I actually wouldn’t be surprised if there’s no more to this refreshed look than what we’ve already seen.
Usually it is all speculation so that’s why it turns out to be wrong.
I’ve noticed the in-show promos are popping up on the left hand side rather than the right.

All Seven seems to do these days is implement minor tweaks here and there rather than a full relaunch (hopefully this isn’t yet another example of this on this occasion).
Has anyone seen the 1 Minute Promo highlighting the shows returning on February 1 yet? If you ask me, it looks very suspiciously similar (colour scheme and to a certain extent, the style of glossy graphics used) to a promo Channel Nine would air.
Yep, it seems that both Seven and Nine seen insistent on copying each other in 2016 even when it comes to promos. Why am I not surprised?
You can see the promo on the Channel 7 Facebook page. Looks great in my opinion.
It does look very Nine style @SydneyCityTV but that’s because a number of people have moved from Nines graphics and Promo department over to Seven.
It a combo of the Feb 2 circle the date stuff but the full screen graphics look very 9 glossy. I wouldn’t say 9 have control of the glossy look though.
It actually a very good good promo IMO.
Looks like the simple generic 2D flat look of 7 which we had for nearly the last decade is on it’s way out. This looks like a major change coming and a move to 3D graphics. I would expect the new look to be rolled out during the tennis or Feb 1.
Either way, both Seven and Nine have launched a new look this year.
Agree it’s pretty shameful but Seven’s execution is on another level compared to what Nine has trotted out over the last couple of years.
I’m just excited to finally see something new and fresh on our screens after such a miserably dull few years.
Don’t read too much into it guys. I don’t really get into analyzing graphics etc and on first look, to me (and therefore I’d say the majority of the public) it’s not obviously like 9 at all.
Probably looked at Ten’s network promos and thought “hang on, we’d better come up with something here”…
I’m almost positive that’s what happened.
Network promos like these are a staple of advertising for as long as I can remember. It is hardly reactionary.
Given the involvement of The Beast from The Chaser, Pete and Manu from MKR and some H&A stars, I’d say it has been planned for some time. I doubt it’s reactionary at all.
