Seven On-Air Presentation

Honestly, think before you post, it’d help us all out.

In saying that though, it’s a nice little history homage to past Presentation elements!

The ‘current’ TV man at the end of the ident looks to have a wider screen to the others, so it appears they have taken widescreen into account to an extent. I personally think they should keep it the way it is.

I’m generally not a huge fan of sponsored idents, but this one is quite well done with the inclusion of the logo evolution. Also, the white on red look is great, and should be used more often.

He has been a CRT since his debut in 2005

Nothing much has changed other than the addition of the 7mate dog and the 7Two TV man

  1. It would change the whole recognisable look of TV Man
  2. They’ve trimmed him down a bit, the back of the TV has been chopped off. And they’ve also made him widescreen.
  3. If they make him completely flat, where will his arms and legs come out of? You can’t have thick arms and legs popping out from an almost flat “body”.
  4. A flatscreen TV Man wouldn’t stand out as much.

I wish they used TV Man more often. There was a really nice “family” promo that had TV Man, TV Jr. and Mate Dog (still no mascot for 7flix btw) but that was ages ago.

The easiest way to update TV Man for today’s audiences is to turn him sideways so he has a portrait mode aspect.

And then there was that ‘7flix picture frame’ (in the network ID with all of them a couple of years back when they got the rights to Harry Potter from Nine and ran a sponsored marathon on Saturday nights) :joy: He was the loner.

WTF IS CRT?

Cathode Ray Tube. Der! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

CRT’s are the old, box TVs.

I’m only 25 but damn that made me feel old.

Let’s not forget we have some very young posters like SATV who are all under 15 and probably don’t remember CRT’s.

I am 12 for example and remember 1 CRT

"Hey dad, what’s the big box on the back of the TV?

Yep, that one got me right in the feels!

Although 20’s was still a decade ago for me.

When I was doing my apprenticeship and whenever I chucked out any old CRT monitors or TV’s my boss would always make me open them up and smash the glass in the electron gun to release the pressure on the screen so that it wouldn’t implode or explode further down the chain of landfill because e-waste wasn’t invented yet.

I don’t miss the days of carrying around bulky heavy ass CRT monitors or TVs. Then again I recently had to move a 75" flat screen and wished it was a CRT… at least it only took one person to move those

The TV man should stay a CRT. The widescreen one looks weird.
