For the first time in a decade, new ‘channel change’ presentation strategy (or is it just tonight), for BH&G > AFL in Melbourne at least… New graphics and a new 1min package ‘teaser’ presented by Johanna Griggs between news and AFL pre game (no more “switch now” bumper with a V/O), which is now main channel. This was a surprise, a quiet change.

Guides, at this stage, have BH&G back on main channel from next Friday in Melbourne. But tonight’s new look seems rather elaborate and a waste of time and budget just for one night, why not just play that “switch now” V/O and be done with it.
I had noted earlier in the year that Seven had been incorrectly placing the pre game show in-studio promo in the wrong spot (half way through BH&G rather than last ad break of news - although finally fixed in recent weeks), meaning many viewers/non-regulars might not have been aware of the 7mate show and therefore ratings may not have been as strong as they would like for “Friday Night Countdown”?
