Awesome how you’ve managed to find recordings of Channel Seven on consecutive dates from two different cities! :sunglasses:

Would this prove just how last minute Seven’s decision to change their logo for the new millennium was?

Because if the plan was to switch to the ribbon logo all along, why would a lineup for 1/1/2000 with the 1999 graphics be produced?

From a Melbourne recording at the start of the century.

My recording started at about 11:54pm on 31/12/99 and there was no watermark. This is at midnight.

End of the Darling Harbour fireworks at about 12:14am

This was immediately followed by a 5 second animation that revealed the new logo.

Then a one minute promo for what was new in 2000

The first ident was the red ‘passion’ one.

PRG was not animated for the first hour or so.

Some other Promo Endtags that morning.

The old logo did come up on a Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia advert

The five colours from the old “the one to watch” idents represented passion, life, evolving, fun and energy respectively

Is there a YouTube video around of the transition from the old logo to the new logo?

No.

Do we know what time of day they changed to the new look? Likely scenario is that the old lineup was produced to air in the hours prior to the changeover to the new look.

Sadly none. In Perth the old lineup slipped in with the new logo

This is from one of my old tapes. It is not on YouTube. Not sure if anyone else recorded it and has uploaded it.

You could try archive.org and upload it there. A historic piece of Australian television.
