Had a watch on 7plus, aside from leading with the Neale Daniher, a solid 10 mins of local news at the head, but a little awkward with a live cross that went a bit astray. And then plenty of other decent local stories later, and another local live cross. New sport presenter is a bit award, weather presenter still a bit nervous. But all in all fairly solid for an upgraded despite some teething issues.

Tubes mentioned on Triple M this morning other than being very nervous himself, there were a number of audio and technical teething issues in the first bulletin.

The green screen presenter needing to obviously step over between the wide shot and the regular shot to be in the correct position is a bit clunky, but hopefully something they can iron out!

The stepping to the side really shouldn’t be needed. There’s plenty of green behind him to have it all in frame when it switches to him!
Can see a bit of camera 2 relection in the TV screen. Still quick flicks of the autocue etc on the 3 TV’s tonight.

Tasmania… you still have a well resourced local bulletin going into the future.
Seven are making it commercial viable and still giving Tasmania a local voice.
Look at Nine Darwin in comparison.

It looks like the forward button on the remote was triggering multiple times on some presses. No wonder it all got out of sync.
But I thought Kiah did very well to hold her composure, keep running through the script, and make an attempt to get the graphics back in line.
More painful for my former colleague, who soldiered through very frustrating technical difficulties from Canberra. Kiah is an amazing woman who has worked so hard for over 3 years and has continued to be a fantastic presenter. She was devastated by the faults and I’d back her every day of the year.

She held her composure incredibly well! And bonus she got the graphics back on track!
Only feedback is a small icebreaker at the start of her forecast or different wording would serve her well. The way her script started after “Good evening” felt like we were jumping in halfway through the weather segment.

More frustrating tech difficulties tonight with the opener getting stuck and a bunch of story supers out of sync. Weekend bulletins are much simpler with no crosses and no sport presenter - things seemed to get better as the first week wore on, but whatever’s happening in the Canberra control room, they need to get it together!

Finally caught the Thursday night weather debacle for Kiah. As someone who performs live I can truly sympathise with her. That would have been very overwhelming, trying to work out what was happening, trying to fix, trying to read the autocue, trying to ad-lib a bit to explain when things aren’t showing and matching with the autocue etc…
Very difficult but well handled. The crosses to the wide shot seem to be a bit less awkward with the stepping on the right mark now and it seems we have a few new different background shots on the screen too.
One other change I’ve noticed is we now have the finance cross and the finance delivered by the network instead of by Kim or Michael.

They just had trouble playing out a story, went to break with headlines.
Clearly some teething issues still from Canberra, disappointing.
I imagine it’s also very difficult for the on air staff having directors and tech crew afar. At least when they’re local and something goes wrong you have better chance of working through it easily.

With the news today that the NBN Nth NSW weekend bulletins have been axed, it makes me wonder for how long the Seven Tasmanian weekend bulletins can survive? (before presumably being replaced by the Melbourne bulletin)?

I’d say the bulletin is relatively safe for now given unlike WIN, Seven have other assets that generate additional revenue.
Not sure if this is still the case, but if Seven are still doing weekend weather updates for Regional NSW/VIC regions like Prime use to do, then it probably also helps justify those if staff in the Canberra control room are also doing the Tasmania bulletin.
However, today’s decision means that Tasmania will soon be the only regional market which will have a dedicated weekend bulletin, and the only one which will have a bulletin which is a mix of local, national, and international news.
