No tarnishing there !
I mean “spotlight” was the offspring of Sunday Night which itself wasn’t the most high brow of current affairs programs ?
Yet lasted successfully for several more years. But I don’t think it’d work as a weekly show.
also Ellen Fanning and Paul Barry, what’s ya point?
am sure it was an oversight.
Waiting for Seven to start describing him as “a former employee of both Seven and ACA”
The point is the hypocricy of Ally’s comment.
On the show that employed the likes of Ben Mccormack to break news about Hey Dad.
the likes of Ben Mccormack get employed as teachers and judges and doctors, I think it’s a long stretch to suggest that there’s something sinister linked to those who employed him, rather than the individual.
Is there any suggestion Taylor did anything dodgy while at ACA?
Who knows? Do you think this is the first time Taylor has employed such tactics to get a story?
It would be extremely out of character for him to go from a journalist of outstanding ethics to engaging in what he claims to have been at the centre of.
Yes because there is big budget put aside to buy off angry neighbours.
What he was doing at ACA was very different to on one of the biggest stories in Australia at the time.

Spotlight’s efforts to woo Bruce Lehrmann have done the journalistic profession few favours. Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World was shut down for less.
The court was told that no-one who worked on the program was a member of MEAA:
Let's be clear: sleazy cheque book journalism like this is the antithesis of what #MEAAmedia and our members stand for. https://t.co/W5oa3Ni6Ln

The defamation case of Bruce Lehrmann was again captivated by the sensational claims of former Spotlight producer Taylor Auerbach.
I can see no excuse for the kind of abhorrent behaviour we’ve heard about at Channel Seven in recent days.
Taylor Auerbach gave explosive evidence on Thursday that Bruce Lehrmann invoiced Seven for a “bender” in Sydney including cocaine and sex workers.
Looks like the shows dead.
It’s just a matter of when they put it to bed.
Ally: “It tarnishes our whole industry”.
God, how sanctimonious.
It would be extremely out of character for him to go from a journalist of outstanding ethics to engaging in what he claims to have been at the centre of.
Without commenting on what this guy did or didn’t do… it’s not lost on me that you tend to defend Channel 7 whatever they do. Can’t help thinking if this guy worked for Channels 9 or 10 you’d have a completely different take on things…
Also noted that Seven are still running those news promo about ‘what is an exclusive’. Recent developments have shed some light on this.
Looks like the shows dead.
Well the brand is. The show will no doubt return under some other meaningless, generic name and with some new graphics slapped on stories they’ve already got in the can.
If they’ve got any time-sensitive stories in the interim they’ll run them as a “Seven News Special”…on Sunday at 8:30pm.
When they dumped the Sunday Night program and then created Seven News Spotlight, I said at the time that it was a stupid idea to link it directly to Seven News. I was so right.
Now, with these revelations, they have not only ruined the Spotlight program but they have tarnished the Seven News brand as well.
A lot of dramatics in this thread.
Does the average viewer care? Do people even know what Spotlight is? I think to dump the show is quite dramatic.
It’s a matter of ethics now.
