Seven News Spotlight

I didnt watch this from the beginning, but from what ive seen so far, its good.

They had a piece by Peter Timbs of Big Brother 1 fame. He talked about reality tv, the days before “social media stars” and the highs and lows of Aussie stars.

The show then moved to the “sad lows” of some stars like Mark Priestly from All Saints and then had a piece of Dieter Brummer whose highs and lows was talked about. His fame in the 1990s, to the recent passing in recent time.

Cameron Daddo and Ada Nicodemou have been on air briefly from what ive seen.

Yes, I missed the start too but saw some really good interviews in this. Awkward at dinner party when the two MAFS contestants turned up and none of the real celebrities knew who they were. :joy:

It’s a shame they cut the stuff with Kyal Marsh (Boyd Hoyland) and Ben Nicholas (Stingray Timmins) from Neighbours. It’s supposed to be available on 7plus but I can’t see it there yet. From the preview, those two actors were quite funny and had some very level-headed things to say about their experience with fame.

Kyal Marsh and Ben Nicholas did appear, but their interview was at the end of the show, and only appeared very very briefly, which was a shame.

The other interviews were great. And the “dinner party” was good too. Rowena Wallace was given her 1983 Most Popular Actress Logie back. As they talked about fame doesn’t always lead to having money all the time.

kyal marsh and ben Nicholas’s interview is supposed to be a spotlight extra. go to the spotlight website and its not there

Yeah. Quite slack really. They promoted it at the end of the program but didn’t bother to load it up.

7NEWS Spotlight: Skin Deep

This Sunday 15 May 9:00 pm after The Voice

Deb Hutton’s personal mission to save Aussies

Her face was her fortune, but it nearly cost her life.

Deborah Hutton has one of the most recognisable faces in Australia, having graced television screens and magazine covers since the age of 16.

But two years ago, the former model and media personality was rushed in for surgery on a facial skin cancer which left her with a confronting large scar on her picture-perfect face.

No stranger to the effects of Australia’s harsh climate, having been diagnosed over the past two decades with multiple recurrent skin cancers, this was the final wake-up call that sparked Deb into action.

Now, the iconic Australian beauty is on a one-woman mission to save the nation one skin check at a time, bringing to life a campaign that shines light on the importance of prevention and skin cancer awareness.

This Sunday, in a major 7NEWS Spotlight television event not to be missed, Deb reveals the latest chapter in her deeply emotional journey with skin cancer, as she traverses the country on her plight to educate sun-loving Aussies.

Hearts will be touched by Oceana Hegyi, a 26-year-old mother-to-be who is recovering from stage 2 melanoma, and Paula Fox, another melanoma survivor and wife of trucking billionaire Lindsay Fox. These women, among many others, are following in Deb’s footsteps to make extraordinary change in the area of skin cancer awareness and prevention.

For Deb, her former life in the spotlight pales into insignificance as she comes face-to-face with the real heroes of her campaign.

"This has so much more meaning to me than half the stuff I’ve done the last 40 years… this is a different love, it has much more purpose and meaning behind it,” she said.

The emotional tell-all interview will delve deep into Deb’s battle and unpack her story, her struggle, and her scars, explaining how everything she’s done in her life until now has led her to this moment.

And in a shocking revelation, Deb reveals that she is not out of the woods yet.

7NEWS Spotlight: Special Double Edition

Melissa Caddick’s husband makes a million-dollar demand

Plus, the explosive trial of ‘killer’ NT cop Zachary Rolfe

7NEWS Spotlight: The Hunted and The Trial

This Sunday, 9.00pm after The Voice on Channel 7 and 7plus

Melissa Caddick’s husband Anthony Koletti has threatened to sue ASIC for millions, after accusing the securities and investment watchdog of “defaming him” and ruining the lavish life he had before his fraudster wife’s disappearance.

Now, in a bombshell new interview in 7NEWS Spotlight this Sunday night on Seven and 7plus , Koletti tells Michael Usher he wants “a few million [dollars]” as compensation from ASIC, claiming they “made out like I’m some kind of violent criminal, which is not true”.

Counting himself among the scandal’s victims, he tells 7NEWS Spotlight he has lost his wife, his prosperity and his future – all taken, he claims, by those who busted the missing conwoman’s $23 million Ponzi-style investment scheme.

“Have they affected my life going forward? Yes, they [ASIC] have. Have they affected my past? Yes, they have. My present, certainly. My future? Definitely.”

In shocking developments in the mystery that has mesmerised the nation, 7NEWS Spotlight follows Koletti as he is forced out of the couple’s palatial Sydney Harbour view home and into a tiny new apartment.

The hair stylist says he was rejected by more than 20 landlords because of the case’s notoriety and has now downsized to a two-bedroom rental with Caddick’s son, who has remained in his custody since the 51-year-old mother vanished in the early hours of 12 November 12, 2020.

As 7NEWS Spotlight cameras capture, Koletti has been stalked by paparazzi since that day, with photographers dramatically swarming his car as he makes an embarrassing exit from the luxury Dover Heights home.

Still mourning his wife’s loss, he tells Usher: “I would give anything to have Melissa back. Absolutely anything. I loved her. This is just a house. Put yourself in my shoes. Would you care if you lost your house, if you got your wife back? That’s the way I feel.”

Then, in a 7NEWS Spotlight double edition and an Australian TV first, Denham Hitchcock takes viewers inside one of Australia’s most explosive legal dramas, following “killer” cop Zachary Rolfe, as he stands accused over the death of Warlpiri teen Kumanjayi Walker.

7NEWS Spotlight was given unprecedented access to Rolfe during his trial which sparked Australia’s own Black Lives Matter protests and outcry beyond Indigenous communities.

The murder charge unsettled police around the country, as Rolfe was forced to plead his innocence and defend his lethal actions during Walker’s arrest on that fateful night.

Rolfe’s family share their devastation at the murder charges, which they believe were ordered by the highest levels of the NT government.

His tearful mother Deb weeps as she recalls the trauma of talking to her son through prison glass “just like in the movies”, while a former police investigator on the case speaks out about his grave concerns over the rush to charge Rolfe with murder.

When the controversial police officer is found not guilty of Walker’s murder, the behind-the-scenes drama is inflamed again, all captured by 7NEWS Spotlight.

Rolfe shares his shocking reaction to his acquittal for the first time in-depth, in a chilling moment Walker supporters won’t want to miss and will never forget.

7NEWS Spotlight: Beating down the Bullies

This Sunday, 9.00pm after The Voice Grand Finale on Channel 7 and 7plus

Grant Denyer feels the power of Aussie boxing champion, George Kambosos

Plus, Sonia Kruger’s Elvis exclusive in Cannes

When George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr. surprised the boxing world by claiming the WBO (Super) crown and three other belts last year, it was the ultimate victory over the Aussie sport star’s childhood demons.

Bullied and belittled for being overweight as a kid, the Bexley boy has made good, driven to beat the bullies in pursuit of global glory. Now, as he prepares to put those hard-earned titles on the line against US contender Devin Haney in Melbourne next weekend, George shows 7NEWS Spotlight’s guest reporter Grant Denyer the full force of his pugilistic power this Sunday on Seven and 7plus .

Aussie director Baz Luhrmann, famed for his movie spectaculars including Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge, has now tackled the epic life of Elvis Presley. As the big screen supremo unveils his latest blockbuster in Cannes, Seven’s Sonia Kruger is on the French Riviera for an intimate sit down with her Strictly Ballroom boss, unpacking the secrets to telling the real story of the greatest rock ‘n roll star who ever lived.

Finally, when the late Aussie billionaire Kerry Packer suffered one of four near fatal heart attacks back in 1990, he famously declared there was nothing on the other side. But as Denham Hitchcock will explore, others beg to differ.

In a worldwide investigation, 7NEWS Spotlight talks to those who claim to have “crossed over” and believe there is really something there. Among the extraordinary stories of survival, meet a young father who suffers from a rare cardiac condition which has seen him “die” more than 250 times. Passing on the disease to his nine-year-old daughter, she speaks for the first time about her supernatural “super power”.

Seems that the show has turned into more like a newsmagazine with more than one story per episode.

So now that Sonia’s reality shows are about to finish they decide to inflict her on us even more on this program?

It’s fine. It’s a highly anticipated movie premiere and she’s Seven’s best entertainment presenter at the moment. I’m sure if Eddy wasn’t on maternity leave that she would have gone.

Sonia has also been directed by Baz in his movie Strictly Ballroom.

Is Michael Usher the permanent “host”… as in he briefly introduces the show… ??

What a ridiculous thing to do to have an established flagship current affairs show in Sunday Night, axe it, and then basically bring it back almost straight away under a different name.

Linking the stages together into one overall design are 70 columns representing Her Majesty’s 70-year reign that can be illuminated to provide a full formation of lights and beams. For the first time, two of the three stages sit immediately in front of Buckingham Palace, framing the iconic home of The Queen.

Speaking for Queen + Adam Lambert, Brian May said: “Twenty years after playing The Queen’s glorious Golden Jubilee we’re very happy to be invited again. Then there was a moment when I wondered… after Buckingham Palace roof where can you go? Well … you will see!”

Diana Ross said: “I have had the honour of meeting The Queen many times throughout my life, including when I was with my family. Further details and additional artists will be confirmed closer to the event with some surprises left for the evening itself.

BBC Studios Productions are staging the event and producing the live broadcast on behalf of the BBC and Buckingham Palace.

He’s done one story this year, and a couple last year…
