They’ve poached Cash-a-Roo from Nine.

Adelaide’s Afternoon News with Sarah Cumming:

Amelia at the end of the weather: “Welcome aboard, it’s nice to have you back”.

A vast improvement on any of the other 4pm presenters. Should just have her do it every day.

Have her present Adelaide’s news nationally!

Adelaide’s news nationally? What do you mean?

I think they mean state wide

But Adelaide news already goes out statewide. There’s no regional news in SA (well not anymore).

I think what they meant is present the national news from Adelaide (which has been done a few times before).

Oh I was thinking multi faceted - no matter if it was presenting Adelaide news nationally or presenting a nation wide bulletin from Adelaide… just get her back on Australia wide :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t say I’m not surpsied tbh. She hasn’t been on much, with Gertie and Casey regularly popping up to do some of her days. And she has been in the role for quite sometime, so I can understand her wanting a change.

Either way, wish her all the best for the future.

She will remain at 7News in a new role which will be announced soon.

I don’t think she came back full time after her last mat leave? Plus of course was just summer break.

She started off doing weekends for a few months, then went back to full time for a bit (at least a month or two IIRC), but then it became a bit of a lucky dip on who did weeknight weather.

Probably also helps explain why they’ve suddenly hired Sarah Cumming as there will likely be a gap in the rosters, especially with Elspeth still way.

With Sarah back and feeling nostalgic, look at how Ann Sanders used to do standing presentation for the afternoon news after the headlines. A horrible story, but very good presentation:

On a side note… all these years later, still Ann and Sal on afternoons, but how I miss Jim Wilson and the opener throwing around the presenters.

There is a bit more to this (including them having to share a room), but I am not sure how much I can share due to it being behind a paywall, however, a few weeks ago there was an incident between reporter Igna Neilson and camera operator Finn Hawkins while in Lake Cargelligo, (90-minute drive north of Griffith), covering the manhunt for Julian Ingram .

The version we’ve heard is that Hawkins was quietly worded up that one of their rivals was being pulled off of the yarn and replaced by a more experienced operator.

When he passed on the tip to Neilsen, she allegedly decided to double-check the details with a member of their rival’s team … all while allegedly detailing where Hawkins had gotten his insider intel from in the first place.

This is when things really start to unravel … because when Hawkins found out what Neilsen had supposedly done, he allegedly accused her of having “dogged” him by revealing the source of his mail.

Neilsen then called her boss and claimed Hawkins called her a dog (he denies this), and she wants to be pulled out. She then told Hawkins that she was being replaced by Briana Jackson, then they started arguing about how long it would take to drop her off at the nearest airport (which is not nearby), and whether he had to wait with her for three hours until her flight departed.

By now, mind you, everyone’s emotions are running high – as is Hawkins’ camera – as they prepare to cover a press conference with the local constabulary … and the ensuing exchange is recorded.

Neilson then suggested Hawkins wait at the airport, and then things exploded apparently

“Can you stop being such an arsehole, Finn? Otherwise I’m literally going to leave,” she fumes.

“I’m, like, why are you being such a c..t,” she adds, before throwing her water bottle on the ground and storming off, pausing only to add: “F..k you.”

Apparently both will be back in the field soon.
