Fine for presenting Australian Idol but not right for weather.
I donât see anything wrong with it
I hate to think of the last time you were in a nightclub, Jbar.
In any case, thatâs not what the kids are wearing these days, and she looks fine and presentable as is she.
Men really neednât be publicly commenting about womenâs outfits.
Maybe I should have said a wedding reception, school formal or a film premiere. But the point is if youâre presenting news or weather at noon, maybe a business suit/dress would be more suitable.
This isnât 1985 or 1995 though, what mightâve been seen as acceptable back then has changed. A woman can show her bare shoulders on a news bulletin and itâs no big deal.
Did she do a good job? Presented the necessary information in an engaging and authoritative manner? Thatâs the sort of stuff we should be judging her on.
Again, we shouldnât really be passing judgment about whatâs appropriate for women to be wearing in this day and age - her workplace and employers can determine that.
Well, in my mind a news bulletin is like an office environment. A ball gown is not what youâd wear for a business meeting.
It has nothing to do with times changing.
People lost their minds recently when some hosts stopped wearing ties on the breakfast shows. What if a male newteader wanted to present in a singlet? Bit of a double standard.
But itâs not a ball gown? Itâs a tailored business dress that happens to have an off the shoulder sleeve.
Dunno about you, but I have seen plenty of business women wear the same or similar (sometimes less) in formal business and corporate situations - itâs no big deal.
People can also have views on whether ties are appropriate for a tv broadcast nowadays, itâs not a double standard - people just find change hard. Those two are not mutually exclusive.
Youâve lost me here, iâve said all I feel I need to say on this.

This is the only thing that matters.
20 years ago I received an email from a female reporter who didnât like that people on my forum were discussing her appearance and not discussing how she did her job. Getting that perspective is why I then banned all further discussion on appearance.
Back then most people didnât see it as a problem and thought I was being a c*nt (which is fine, I am), but a lot has changed since then. In 2025 it isnât socially acceptable to be criticising a woman based on appearance.
Are men treated differently? Yes. Is it a double standard? Yes. But that doesnât change anything.
People who work in the media do come here and what we discuss does affect them. I think we can do better than worry about what they are wearing.
But Iâm not criticising the presenter. I just found it distracting and didnât pay attention to the content. Is that the intention?
I wonder why no Katrina this week with Max. Or even Sam is Katrina is unavailable.
The scheduling in Brisbane is really weird, you would think they would look for some sort of consistency when you have people filling in for a newly appointed presenter who is on leave.
But it is school holidays, so that could be affecting things?
School holidays I suspect
Going by her presenting style, I find her to be too much of a loud talker - like sheâll speak LOUDLY in studio as though sheâs doing an outside broadcast. I find it off putting but itâs probably just me.
Iâve been saying this too. She always sounds like she has a water bubble in her throat. Itâs really annoying.
Very distasteful question by Tim Lester at Peter Duttonâs press conference today, asking if Duttonâs fatherâs heart attack was because he worries about his son.

Tim McMillan presented the âMoney Talksâ finance segment tonight in front of a green screen representation of the Sydney set.

Amanda Abate is presenting in Brisbane tonight. I believe it is her first time reading the metro 6pm bulletin.
