Doesn’t she still do the local 4pm news 2 days a week (when it isn’t on summer break of course)?
One would assume the Journo’s and certainly the Newsreaders would be at least being partially looked after by their employer. I hate to think what the Camo’s and other staff get paid?
It wouldn’t be worth driving up Mt Coot-tha and leaving your car in the Sun for.
Samantha was sharing 4pm duties last year but hasn’t had to do much since a national version has been in use. I mentioned her because the article should have mentioned that the salary if for a part-time job.
Thats the problem with writing an article based off a TikTok clip. It lacks context. Also doesn’t mention MC gigs, which most tend to do.
I’d say that’s pretty standard, no wonder so many good ones leave TV for greener pastures.
I’d have thought also that the Brissy people would be paid a bit less than those in Sydney/Melbourne because it’s a smaller market?

Angie is again on the morning news today
Thursday January 10
Hugh Whitfield is presenting the morning news
Thursday (09.01.2025):
Steve Titmus is presenting in Brisbane tonight.
Why is this in reply to a post from Sept 2024?
There’s something very uncomfortable about these camera angles.
There’s just so much… space? Not sure how to describe it.
Friday January 10, 2025: Amber Laidler on the morning news
The floor is so bare. They need a riser around the outskirts of the set where they can stand. Even if its a glossy surface like ABC has for their standing area.
It’s also such an awkward videowall because of how it ends right next to the desk.
This whole set is a mess.
Friday 10.01.25
Samantha Heathwood presenting at 6pm in Brisbane.
I feel like the set itself is visually appealing, on brand and quite modern. I reckon it’s the overall execution and how it’s being used on air that let it down.
As many suggest a riser or some floor elements would go a long way. The desk could be brought back a bit to allow them to improve some of those off looking angles.
Also the previous sets wrapped into the studio much better with large banners around lighting grids etc while this one appears to be deep in outer space
According to the Herald Sun, Rebecca Maddern will make her debut as weeknight sports reader from Monday.
The article also mentions that during the AFL season, Bec will present sport live from the footy on Thursday and Friday nights (presumably only for matches in Melbourne).
