Seven News Presenters and Reporters

Yeah- they are both meh. Joel is more fluent, doesn’t smile during the news and doesn’t gesture excessively (or at all), so he is slightly better. He needs to work on the shouting though.

And poor old Wally has the worst intonation. He reads like a Year 2 student reads their home reader. lol

with Mel McLaughlin presenting sport from the Adelaide Oval, and Samantha Brett presenting the weather.

This weekend in Melbourne (Sat 19 Dec-Sun 20 Dec): Blake Johnson is presenting, with Sean Sowerby presenting sport and Estelle Griepink presenting the weather.

Incorrect. Seven News Melbourne really has only made a weak comeback at the most, and continues to trail their counterpart.
I’m not sure where Sydney being the only problem came from, they’ve trailed in the two eastern states for a long time now…

They are likely to regain momentum in 2021 though.

Will Rob be stood down, or even sacked, by Seven?

It would help if people provided context when posting links to paywalled content so people can comment with a full understanding of what happened.

Given Ovadia hasn’t been charged with an offence and Seven’s news director Jason Morrison defended his instincts and puts the incident down to a misunderstanding with officious public servants, It’s pretty safe to say the matter is over.

Having spent a bit of time in a court in recent months, I’m surprised Ovadia wasn’t aware of how strict court officials are about mobile phone use in these places even if he did record the incident outside the actual court room.

I assume Ovadia notified his bosses about the arrest, and hence he then had the backing of Jason Marrison.

Unlike Ryan Phelan, who turned up to work without having notified his bosses he was involved in police business.

There’s a clause in their contract that if they’re involved in police business then they must let their employer know, even just as a courtesy more than anything else.

Very different circumstances.

There are also significant concessions made for media to film within court premises.

Non-story.

Sunday: Mike Amor is presenting in Melbourne, with Andrew McCormack presenting sport and Estelle Griepink presenting the weather.

Interesting because Blake is still reporting tonight. Maybe they wanted a familiar face to anchor tonight since it’s a big news day.

Fairly certain Blake is familiar enough in Melbourne now.

Mike Amor just said that Melina Sarris would present weather this week from suburban streets across Melbourne, showcasing some of the Christmas lights in the city.

I meant more so presenter wise, Blake is more familiar as a reporter.

Perhaps they’ve gone back to a Sunday-Thursday, Friday-Saturday split for the newsreaders.

Seven Melbourne need to decide what they want to do with Blake. He’s a great talent, but if they want him as their 3rd presenter, they need to promote him more and build his profile up. Heck, they don’t even have an end tag for him.

Agree, but maybe he’s just happy reporting.

Usually the 4pm presenter would probably be 3rd in line, but in this case, Blake isn’t the 4pm presenter. Perhaps they should make him the permanent Afternoon News presenter, but then that leaves Jacqui Felgate and Mike Amor in an awkward situation.

I also think that Jacqui’s talents are being put to waste on weekend sport, they should just give the weekend role to Sean Sowerby. I think she deserves to be given more newsreading opportunities and should be more involved in the news side of things, as opposed to sport.

With Angela Cox in Queensland and Natarsha Belling filling in on The Morning Show, is there any chance we might see the latter do the morning news today?

It’s most likely going to be Chris Reason or Robert Ovadia (spew) but Seven could surprise us again like they have today.

Monday 21st December & Tuesday 22nd December -

Mike Amor is presenting the Morning News.

Monday: Michelle Bishop (:+1:) presenting sport. Mike also read out the weather forecast.

Great to see Michelle Bishop presenting sport again. Her first time since Christmas Day last year I reckon.

I think Blake is very overrated as a reporter and a presenter. He’s okay but will never be one of the big guns.
