Are we thinking that Kendall was overlooked for the weekend role and/or being asked to make room for Katrina at 4pm?
Certainly hard to believe that the timing is coincidental.

I’m torn about it. I thought Katrina was shafted from weekends at first until I read her Instagram post. It is believable and it’s exactly 4 yrs this weekend since Kay left (so Katrina’s contract could be up for negotiation). She has also been number 1 on weekends so moving her would be a strange move on Seven’s part. At the same time, I’m confused why Katrina is only presenting 4pm only three days. You’d think if your former 6pm anchor is in the newsroom, you’d want her presenting over reporting.
I think Katrina wanted weekdays and Kendall wasn’t offered weekends so she walked. Samantha’s no doubt the winner in all of this.
The 4pm news presenter is nowhere near as important as the 6pm reader. If Katrina wanted to split her time between presenting and reporting then I’m sure Seven would genuinely be fine with that.
It also means Brisbane have a strengthened reporting team for a couple of days a week with someone with Katrina’s experience on the road.
Katrina was already reporting for 6pm Monday-Wednesday.
What I’m saying is why would you have Katrina report on Thursdays and Fridays and Samantha (who is already a reporter and now the weekend reader) present? Wouldn’t it be better to have the one presenter Monday-Friday given they are in the newsroom? To me, this is all about giving Samantha as many presenting opportunities as possible.
I agree with this.
Surely Katrina replacing Kendall Mon-Fri at 4pm and Samantha then taking weekends + reporting for 6pm during the week makes more sense.
This seems quite plausible - the only issue I have with this theory is that they haven’t seemed to hesitate putting Kendall on at 6pm over the summer (and as a fill-in during the year) so it seems strange that she wouldn’t have been offered the weekend role.
The only other thought I have is that neither Katrina or Kendall wanted to do weekends, so the issue became somehow finding room for both of them Mon-Fri. I doubt Kendall would have looked favourably on returning to reporting.

This is 100% a younger HSV-7 News Sport’s Andrew McCormack, isn’t it
Noticed while I was watching one of Elliot Loney’s brilliant impersonation vids on YT. From the 2013 Aus Open. Coincidentally Seven produced this AO and he would one day end up there.
100%! What a coincidence. At the time he was a reporter for 1116 SEN.
Well I wouldn’t say that…
Maybe Katrina actually likes reporting. She’s great at it. Presenting isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Agree with this… maybe she wanted to keep up the reporting.
She will probably become Samantha’s substitute on weekend now also, and i assume we’ll still see her over summer.
Former 10 News First Melbourne reporter Jordy Wright has joined the Melbourne newsroom.
Such an ordinary backdrop, too zoomed in on the wheel and the river not looking crash hot today if that’s a live shot.

Another thing to think about with the Brisbane presenter shuffle is the future of Sharyn Ghidella. Sharyn is now around the same age Kay McGrath was when Kay was moved to weekends. Could Seven be setting this up to soon move Katrina to weeknights and leave Sam established on weekends, or familiarising Sam with the audience to pair her with Max eventually?
I hope not what they did with Kay was wrong. They let men age on the TV but women get shafted it’s wrong and it’s a double standard. The only women that has aged on TV is probably Ann Sanders. I don’t think anyone female that is older than her on TV at the moment. Even though she was shafted from the 6pm news but for different reasons a long time ago.
