A very happy 60th Birthday to Seven News Melbourne sport presenter Tim Watson.
It’s no different to all the business people who have been allowed to travel back and forth multiple times, and who take up hotel spots.
Noticed a new reporter I hadn’t seen before on Melbourne’s Afternoon News today - Tracy McBeth.
According to Tracy’s profile, she has previously worked for Seven News Perth and Sunrise. She is also a health writer and contributed a couple of articles for Bupa’s website earlier this year.
She was previously known as Tracy Moran for anyone living in WA.
Ahh yes. I remember her.
Samantha’s reports have been getting more prominent. The first was a repackaged report from Sydney. The last 2 nights she has reported live the the second report on each bulletin.
Seven News Cairns based reporter Matthew Karstunen reporting on Good Morning Britain earlier today. Did this story get any attention on Australian bulletins tonight? It was mentioned in the GMB headlines.
You can have an opinion over how it isn’t safe or their taking hotel quarantine spots, but to say they can do it from a studio like the NRL means you have no idea.
They’re reporting on the ground about the news of the games, not sitting in a studio calling the event blow by blow for starters.
Damn they need new mic flags…
Judging by social media, Blake Johnson, Matt Carmichael and a couple of cameraman are flying out to Tokyo this morning.
She was at 7 Melbourne around 2015 as well
Sunday 18 July -
Melina Sarris presented weather in Melbourne tonight.
Rod Young (Co-Seven Gold Coast Newsreader and long time Seven News Brisbane Presenter) will retire this Thursday.
No replacement currently announced. Cue the speculation.
Tim Bailey?
My guess is he won’t be replaced. All 7’s marketing has shifted towards Max & Sharyn, so I’d say Amanda Abate will front it solo.
Can’t help but wonder if he’s been pushed out the door as a way of allowing Amanda to return to 5 nights a week reading the bulletin, since they don’t seem to want dual readers.
Anyway, just another reason for viewers to tune into Nine if Seven’s most experienced presenter in the market is leaving.
Yes Amanda would presumedly be cheaper than Rod in salary.
Unless Seven can entice Rob Readings back to TV (probably unlikely) or better Bruce Paige’s salary at Nine (probably also unlikely) then chances are Nine will continue to rule the Coast.
Rod Young: Legendary 7 NEWS newsreader to retire after 45-year career
A massive loss for BTQ!
I’d rather them just end the bulletin on a high-ish note. The bulletin isn’t doing great guns ratings-wise and is far less resourced compares to when it started. Divert these resources (such as reporters, producers etc) to Brisbane news and make that bulletin a high quality alternative to the dross on Nine and work their way back up top. They’ve done it before without GC News, they can do it again.
