Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

Could be that Musher was up there for Spotlight, and he happened to be there at the same time as Sarah and the executives.

Or (and this is probably less likely), he is going to be doing some sort of role for the election.

Good thinking, of course.
Sarah will start the week leading up to the election. Good timing.

I hope Sarah and Max host the election coverage.

Would’ve been better if she was there for the campaign period, but at least they have her there to front the coverage in the crucial final stage, and on election night.

What? Is she pregnant?

@MaddieWalsh Please confirm

Yes. Not sure if it’s common knowledge yet.

Well this is rather pointless then. She’ll appear for a few months then be off for a year. Hopefully they plan to put Katrina or Sam in with Max while Sarah is away or returning to a double header right now is pointless.

It definitely makes for an interesting situation when they’re trying to bed in & sell a new duo to viewers - but I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s pointless.

But they’ve got to start trying to rebuild the bulletin ASAP, waiting wouldn’t really have been an option for them and she shouldn’t be overlooked for the role either.

Maybe Sarah will push through the summer then while Max is on leave?

Surely she won’t start next week and then go on holidays 6/7 weeks later?

Week after (21st October).

However, it could be that she may not take a full year off from the desk - she get’s up to 12 months, however, there is no rule saying that she has to take a year off if it suits her better.

In saying that, they may as well just put Katrina next to Max on election night, and just hold out until next year if they want Sarah on the desk with Max.

I would assume she will take 2 or 3 months off only. When Sharyn took mat leave she was only gone for a matter of weeks, albeit only on weekends.

Start Sarah off with Max, continue solo through summer, then go on leave. She may only be off briefly, lots of Mums return to work pretty early these days.

She’s also probably had a fairly easy year since moving home from London. Maybe 5 or 6 stories on Spotlight since joining.

To be fair, it usually does take time to put those stories together (i.e. research, travelling for interviews, etc).

Yes but, not the usual Mon - Fri roster. She’s definitely put the brakes on after London.

Until now.

I hope they’re smart for next year and realign the roster. Now that Tony does Monday to Friday, the new sports reader who replaces Shane needs to do Monday to Friday to match the others and have Ben on Sat/Sun.

Slightly off-topic but I remember when Erin Molan (then at Nine Sydney) went on leave in mid-2018, she was only off for six weeks.
