Sounds fishy to me!
Oh no, now where will i see my weekly lotto numbers.
God that is a hideous ad. It actually draws focus to the floor.
It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold tonight. Channel 7 might have made a mistake by not preparing viewers for this pairing – it feels a bit like a forced marriage. Will there be natural chemistry, or will it end up being completely awkward?
How is it any different to other double headers being thrown together?
Bill and Sharyn and Max and Sharyn were thrown together.
Alicia and Tom just this year were thrown together and look at them now.
A new pairing just started on 9News Adelaide too.
I think just because Fergo has always been solo and they’re untested together (at least on air).
So was Alicia. And Usher before Cox was added onto weekends.
I also remember a time in the 90s when Jennifer Keyte walked out on Seven because they were proposing to pair her with David Johnston. The result - HSV-7’s news ratings got worse, and Keyte spent a few years at Nine before eventually returning in 2003.
Off-topic, Ten introduced double headers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in the mid-teens but none of them lasted over three years (Riminton/Sully, Quarters/Wyatt and Kennedy/Lewis respectively). Another paring (Craig Smart and Narelda Jacobs) also didn’t last long, from memory.
Main reason Keyte walked out was management didn’t have the guts to tell her that they were pairing her with Johnston - she found out when the switchboard called her with reporters requests for comments, then management denied it, before she found out on the radio news and they were forced to tell her.
Smart IIRC got the chop as part of the November 2012 cuts.
You can read their scripts atm!
From my perspective, and from what I’ve seen tonight, they are a strong pairing.
Ange has been trying to have a crack with banter with Mark meanwhile he just sits there and grins like a stunned mullet. Good grief
Apart from that they’re an alright pairing, I think Ange has more authority than Mark.
I don’t think he has responded to anything off script that Angela has said. Seems to just glance in her direction and smile. However, when on script they are good.
Coming back from a break there was a fake off mic discussion before the story report started.
Yes lots of commentary from Ange and lots of nodding and staring from Mark. It’s a slick presentation so far.
Should’ve had Michael Usher and Ange on weeknights. At least they’re a lot more natural onscreen. Ferguson barely passes as a solo, this is going to really send him into a spiralling mess.
Spoke too soon, he just said 1 word off script!
