I wonder if Seven will send Mitchell on his summer break a little later this year, so that Bec and Mike are rostered against the debut of Nine’s new line up. It’d be wise.
I would have thought Seven would want their Number 1 presenter (Peter Mitchell) back on deck to counter Alicia & Tom.

This weekend has been the first time in over a decade Perth have actual Weather Presenter,Amelia Broun presented the Weather this weekend.

Like-for-like would spoil the point of difference that Nine is trying to offer (not that I think there would be much interest). Viewers would be less likely to sample the new lineup on Nine in the first few weeks, because Seven’s pairing is stronger.
Bec and Mike won weekends then Seven started winning weeknights.
That doesn’t change my comment. Peter Mitchell won the year against Peter Hitchener.

And I didn’t say to fire him. He won. I just suggested pushing his return to after the tennis when Nine News’s promos have died down.
I’m still mystified why unknown Tom got the gig.
I think Seven is very safe with this option at the moment.

Compared to the local profiles / faces, Peter Mitchell, Rebecca Maddern, Mike Amor, Peter Hitchener, Alicia Loxley, Jennifer Keyte, Steven Quartermain etc… he’s a big unknown to Melbourne viewers. Fill in presenters such as Dougal Beatty, Candice Wyatt and Blake Johnson would be more known to the average Melbourne viewer.
Nine should have had Tom fill in over previous summers and transition him into the roll.

It’s like saying Liz Hayes is an unknown. Tom might be untested yeah, but certainly not unknown.
They still have time. For all we know they could plan on having Tom anchor solo this Summer, but he definitely isn’t unknown to Melbourne audiences; just not a local personality.
