I hope a new set to coincide with the new era of TVW-7 Seven News Perth. We had the old twisted metal set in the Dianella studios in the 2010s which was used on the East Coast
Would be nice for them to get Melbourne’s old set. Would look nice in the West
This theory was actually debunked and there was a period where all states had the twisted metal set
IIRC Perth finally got their twisted metal set, then barely a year later the other cities slowly moved away from the twisted metal.
I think the one thing that had bothered me about 7NEWS Sydney is their poor execution of camera angles ever since the graphics refresh
Just then after the title sequence - It played out as the regular 4pm opener with the camera staying still.. then the other side sweeps in like it use to do back when it was solo.
Then the crash zoom on the double header nights is a pain because you got a sweep, a camera zooming in quickly to the desk, then the headlines roll.. it’s too much
And that big vertical screen?
I swear Mark only done stand up from the screen from the introduction of that set until 2024. Ever since then it’s been zoom in on desk on one side then switch to the other and reel it in
Can’t do stand up openings any more on Weeknights with Mark & Ange.. Always starts at the desk.. rinse & repeat every night.
Martin Place was creative some nights it was a swooping shot around the desk then reeling in on the other side, some nights it zoomed in from the right.. and back when the new desk arrived in 2020.. there was a camera zooming in from the top.
Still.. should’ve stayed solo tbh
Okay.. rant of 7NEWS Sydney’s Camera angles.. over
Sydney had pretty creative angles (like 10 in Sydney does, I think) since the cameras were still manually operated. I can only guess that since the cameras are automated and robotic, the production team don’t have the same level of freedom with the shots they can pull off
Seven Melbourne with media update.
Nothing from Nine. Seven in Melbourne often outperforms Nine in breaking news.
Melbourne seems to now have a good base of news presenters - Peter Mitchell, Mike Amor, Karina Carvalho, Blake Johnson and looks like now Alex Cullen and Laura Turner. Can probably add in Rebecca Maddern to the list too.
On what metric do they outperform 9?
Adelaide’s 4 PM news looks to be back
They go to press conferences and breaking info etc first?

BTS of 7QLDs newsroom and tech
There was a joint Sydney/Melbourne 4pm news again (it seems so far). Caption and discussion made reference to “The Premier” with the top of the bulletin was all about Victorian fires and especially a visit to the area.
By contrast Nine’s national news, where the fires could only make the 5th story, had “Victorian Premier”
When does the Midday News return?
Could be January 19. Let’s see; Main 6PM Anchors return (Fergo on January 18), Nat & Shirvo return on Sunrise. Guessing Sydney & Melbourne local 4PM will be back next week?
Guessing Sydney & Melbourne local 4PM will be back next week?
Interesting to see if they return.
@aarontvcentral has previously stated Seven National News at Noon returns 2 February.
Promos indicate Nat and Shirvo return Tuesday 27 January
Except Ironically Nat is apparently back Monday according to what another user stated above.. Again ironic
