Does anybody know the story behind musical studios at Parliament House and who’s moved/taken over where?

Maybe the took office space off 10?

When do we see the new studio?

Why have both 9 and 7 done this? Seems like a waste of money. We seldom see coverage come from in Parliament House plus 9 haven’t really shown their set.

IIRC Nine doesn’t really have a true “set” by normal standards, just a curved video wall with a desk in front of it?

Edit: I stand somewhat corrected after a quick search, they built a large round desk riser in Canberra as well. So a budget version of the National set, but a version nonetheless…

Meanwhile nine has just axed its presenter in Adelaide and many staff around the country.

Probably some long term cost savings by merging multiple bureaus into one space, not to mention an uplift in quality and functionality. Nine was still using an SD green screen setup at times and a video tape library.

I presume with recent ownership changes over the past few daces (keeping in mind these spaces have likely stayed the same since the building first opened), they’ve consolidated all their outlets in the one area (i.e. Seven News and West Australian in one area, Nine’s stuff all together in another area), therefore freeing up space for expansions.

Ideally, Brisbane 12.00-2.00, Adelaide 12.30-2.30, Perth 10.00-12.00 on Channel 7.

But hey, we can’t allow our morning block to be pre-empted in one market for a live news event. Think about ratings.

You can’t cut the three hour old informercials for Perth, think of the money! /s

He wasn’t that big a personality here. It’d be like showing Jeremy Cordeaux’s funeral in Melbourne. No need for live coverage on FTA, online is fine.

Tbh I’m surprised they are even bothering with live to air in Melbourne.

Known in Queensland but not well enough for a funeral.

He did have a show of sorts on TVO

yeah… I only knew him from the Valvoline commercials in the 90s.

He was syndicated right across regional areas of Victoria throughout the 90s until his first retirement in 2007.

He was also heard across regional Queensland so I’m surprised it’s not being broadcast there as well.
