Saw Melbourne had a live press conference on about 1:30.

Since they mentioned the Sydney director role, I read somewhere (potentially The Australian) that Neil Warren quit to save three other producers from De Ceglie’s cuts.

Lordy. Just watched a clip from the noon news talking about a women who had her arm severed. There was quite pronounced laughter in the studio followed by shushes.

Sea Sick: South Australia’s algae crisis – a 7NEWS Adelaide special event

Premier Peter Malinauskas joins expert panel

It’s the environmental disaster that’s gripped South Australia for months.

From the Eyre Peninsula to the Fleurieu and metropolitan Adelaide, once-pristine beaches have turned into marine graveyards, leaving SA’s seafood and tourism industries facing an uncertain future.

Now, in a special event airing Wednesday 6 August at 7.00pm ACST on Seven and 7plus, 7NEWS dives into the toxic algal bloom crisis that’s devastated South Australia’s coastlines and communities.

7NEWS Adelaide presenters Rosanna Mangiarelli and Will Goodings lead a powerful panel that’ll tackle the big questions, offering insight into what’s being done and what still needs to happen.

Live in studio will be SA Premier Peter Malinauskas, SA Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier, and Executive Officer of RecFish SA, Asher Dezsery – an outspoken advocate for recreational fishers.

The voices of affected South Australians will be front and centre, with affected residents able to ask questions of the state’s decision makers, to get answers.

Rosanna Mangiarelli said: “This crisis has touched so many lives – from families who can’t swim at their local beach to fishers whose livelihoods are at risk. We’re here to get answers, and we won’t shy away from the tough questions.”

Will Goodings added: “South Australians deserve transparency and action. This special is about giving them a voice and holding decision-makers to account.”

Would prefer they at least had someone from the EPA, or the Environment department there as well since it’s also an environmental event.

Also not sure what’s point of having Nicola Spurrier there - while she is great with what she does, I’m not sure she will able to add much especially when the health impacts have already been made clear.

Yes agreed, maybe they figure people don’t care for the environment they just case about their own health.

Judging by the promo and the press-release, sadly that seems to be the case. The focus appears to be on the industries impacted, and tourism.

Though at least someone who is qualified to talk about marine biology would be able give us some sort of indication about we can go swimming again, fishing, etc, and if and how the situation could get worse or better. Also a qualified person could reassure people that local seafood is safe to eat, which is one of the topics that’s been in the news this week. Would be a no-brainer IMO.

Surely I’m not the only one who every time they see the blank space whenever they use this shot can’t help but think the set is still incomplete?

Ah yes, they seem to be adopting Apple’s new Liquid Glass look! I have the iOS 26 beta on my iPhone (and I’m enjoying the Liquid Glass feature on it) so for me it makes total sense! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Looks like it’s a refresh of graphics. Like some tweaks.

FWIW, the current graphics have been in use since April 10/11, 2022. I remember this occurring when the date for the Federal Election that year was announced (at which the Liberals would lose office after nine years in power).

Wonder how long it will take for the regionals to use these modified graphics? Considering this is the first graphics change since 7 took ownership of the prime stations.

Refresh of graphics at 5pm
Must be expecting a big audience for Logies night to launch the tweaks.
