Not necessarily rare, but I guess it happens with some stories - I’ve seen this before.
[In relation to the comment you have made of Blake Johnson] But the same could be said to you?
You haven’t really gave any actual facts to prove your theories. All you’ve done is state things.
Has this not been discussed before?
Many have said that the newsroom did quite well in 2019, but factors have caused it to derail from then. Things like poor journalism standards from certain reporters, and poorly produced content in comparison to other Seven newsrooms, as well.
Last thing I’ll say on this…neither do I trawl through people’s social media accounts.
For instance when I posted on the Presenters and Reporters thread what Angela Cox had posted on her insta about her joining Michael Usher on the news desk, it came up on my feed and I thought it would be useful for the conversation on that thread. It’s not as if I sat staring at Instagram all morning long waiting for Ange to post something about the matter.
And thank you for asking, yes I do have lots of hobbies away from MediaSpy .
Anyways back on topic and regarding Seven News Melbourne, it’s clear that they need to do more to get ahead of Nine.
For starters, I’d love it if they shifted the desk back around to how it was pre-2020. And to change their backdrops too, so restoring the one of the Yarra River on the 4pm news, and the one at 6pm where you can see Flinders Street station and the other surrounding buildings.
I mean I don’t mind it for a breaking news story at the top of the 6pm news, but it’s really unnecessary to open the 4pm news with the presenter standing.
This moron should be fined and lose a few points off his licence. He is constantly looking straight into the video recording device he is using instead of concentrating on the road ahead.
This is as bad as what Nine News Queensland has done in recent years. I think even Alex himself is terrified. Maybe the commanders at HQ barked that he does it that way?
Poor effort from Seven Sydney to not be able to cobble together say 10 minutes of local news coverage at the end of the cricket when there would have been a lot of people looking for breaking information especially travellers. You don’t lift yourself out of second place this way.
I agree, especially since Sydney’s Northern Beaches is likely to be a fairly heavy Nine-watching region.
Of course there’s also probably quite a few employees of TCN and other media outlets who reside on the Northern Beaches (or at the very least, spend a lot of time there), but of course that’s another story…
I’d say there are plenty of people in other states watching the situation closely as well; a mini bulletin could have run live to all markets after the cricket.
All that aired was a national update with Mark Ferguson (presumably pre-recorded) at about 10:55. While it did cover the important information briefly, a short bulletin would have been good in order to cover it in more detail.
That was shown on delay in Queensland but the information was out of date regarding the Queensland reaction to the outbreak so I agree it was definitely pre-recorded…
that newsroom is full of horrid narcissists
oh, and the desk in Melb needs to go back where it was - that’s how it was designed - the powers that be have just changed things for changes’ sake - never works
they will never beat 9 with the current culture and talent roster - Mitch’s brief time at the top a few years back was most likely an anomaly
I don’t think it’s that bad, as long as the go-pro isn’t obstructing his view too much, I think it’s just a trick of angles and him looking over the top of the camera.
However, I still think it’s a bad idea to even appear like you’re breaking the road rules / driving dangerously - especially when the theme of the package was based around how much safer the road rules are.
Points for trying to spice up the package, but minus points for execution. He could’ve had someone else driving, and be in the passenger seat… or a PTC on the side of the road would’ve worked just as well.
