On the social’s only I believe.
No mistake. Sydney and the network would have requested to take it.
Who? The cleaner? Doubt many if any are left in the building at ATN or other stations this late on a Friday…
It’s not that difficult to take a feed or an update from another state. The Sydney news director would have told management to take the Melbourne update.
You seriously think they were/are there? Maybe from remote at a long shot. I think it’s more likely Seven Melbourne accidentally or maybe yes intentionally played it out nationally from their end.
Where? Jesus, he could have contacted them from his bedroom. very much over thinking this.
It’s a story that’s warranted national exposure. An hour ago they thought there was a possibility it was terror related. Thank god it’s not.
All major news outlets would have a structure in place that allows for 24/7 management/editorial oversight. I don’t know what Seven’s approach to that would be - but yes, there would be somebody whose job it is to make this type of decision on a Friday night.
Another extended update just went to air about 10 mins ago on the story from Melbourne.
More breaking news update this afternoon, there’s been a shooting in Melbourne’s north-west with a person dead:

30 seconds to call the playout centre and direct them to take the break. Not complicated.
Likely someone in Melbourne alerted a Sydney employee of the incident and that they were producing a live news break and they simply elected to take it
Angela Cox presenting Sydney’s Afternoon News.
Gold Coast had a tight shot on Steve Timus for whole bulletin including opener and closing. It was a solo read including sport so perhaps they didn’t want to highlight that. Paul Burt did weather.
Melbourne throwing to a live cross from the desk via the sport screen- is that new?
Looks like a different studio.
Seen this before.
Oh I’m sure it was intentional - I just got the feeling that they were replacing the usual half-time break with the news, and thus played out more-or-less “as” one segment of half-time - so it went out nationally on whichever channel was taking the footy.
I’m not sure that was necessarily much else they could do, because it’s not like there was alternative half-time footy content to play out to the other states. Whether there should’ve been is another question, but with so much of their audience coming from VIC I’m not sure it matters much.
They should still leave the skycam up, instead of the generic white
Similar vein to recent change at 9.
Is it just for some stories?
