Technical Difficulties on Sydney’s Afternoon News, black screen after returning from ad break, then cutting back to an ad break and now showing Melbourne’s afternoon news.

Wonder if the crazy weather in Sydney had anything to do with this?

It would be very easy to match the Melbourne set up with the latest Sydney look - new desk in the original position, larger (and much higher quality) secondary plasma wall to the side for weather/standing presentation and resurface the floor plain black/grey with a light timber riser across the front of the desk.
Would look a million bucks for not a huge amount of investment.
They would probably even have space for a vertical screen in front or to the side of the set.

Excellent breaking resources and coverage, especially being a Friday evening and AFL finals on, having a reporter there, live-cross and live ‘news flash’ during telecast ad break (which seemed to struggle to opt out of the network playout with a black fade screen at the start and a very long pause on the end-tag graphic before ads resumed).
Definitely seem to have got the jump on rival news services, including vision and social media presence too.

What is it with Melbourne and Bourke St? This sort of thing doesn’t happen anywhere else.
Very sad news.
That’s odd, has to have been a mistake? Accidentally ingested it into all markets? Note my earlier comment:
It went into a proper ad break, which of course are normally on a per market basis/locallised, even though a lot of the same ads due to sport telecast with partners / sponsors. But they obviously stopped/paused these for the HSV-7 news flash but seemingly forgot to keep other markets’ ads airing?

AFAIK Docklands still has network playout functions, no doubt back-up if NPC Media Frenchs Forrest fails but also due to the large sport operations and split scheduling that is controlled from there, with the master control hub still set-up and often seen as background when somebody is being interviewed for news at BCM. Doubt tonight’s rare update airing would’ve occured at another network like this.
