Would be very interesting if it’s permanent.

Maybe they could also look into airing the early news, Sunrise, TMS and the Morning News live into Adelaide and have the local morning news air at 11.30 before everything returns to normal.

Does Adelaide not get the Early News?

And plus as if they would air an Early news…

I agree, could look something like this:

4:30am Seven Early News
5:00am Sunrise
8:45am The Morning Show
11:00am Seven Morning News (national)
11:30am Seven Morning News (local)

Queensland could do something like this if they get a local Morning News:
4:00am Seven Early News
4:30am Sunrise
8:15am The Morning Show
10:30am Seven Morning News (national)
11:00am Seven Morning News (local, 1hr)

4am who tf would wake that early

Not many but there would be some.

The sun also rises significantly earlier in Queensland than it does in Victoria and New South Wales, so the times that Queenslanders wake up would be earlier.

The priority would be for live airings of news programs.

I wouldn’t call that a roster - it’s just a mock schedule of how Seven could schedule their day if they were to air Sunrise, The Morning Show, and a local Morning News live into Adelaide and Brisbane.

Many other users have posted mock schedules on that particular thread. Nothing creepy about that.

I notice that in recent weeks, the captions on Melbourne’s news updates during the evening are in all capitals, while the captions of the rest of Seven’s programming (including the 6pm news) are mostly in small letters. Does anyone know why?

Monday 15th has Seven Morning News local in Adelaide and Perth

Doubtful. You’ll probably find east coast will be the 1 bulletin (except maybe Melbourne if there if COVID warrants it).

Adelaide is turning up the local to counteract 9. We’ll see if Perth’s morning news sticks too.

Let’s be realistic here: Sydney won’t ever get a truly local 11.30am bulletin from Seven (or Nine) unless all four other metro markets run their own race during that timeslot.

It’s pretty clear that there are two factors at play:

  1. Nine closing the gap, nothing more need to be said about this point.

  2. When Seven axed the local afternoon news last year it’s clear it was one of Warburton’s ‘necessary’ cuts and a national decision, not local. The fact that Seven Adelaide would go out of their way to produce a morning bulletin like Perth probably speaks volumes of the fact that the local newsroom isn’t pleased with some of the decisions made by national overheads.

Good on them (Seven News Adelaide) for at least trying different things and hopefully it works in their favour.

Seven know they fucked up last year with Adelaide… now they have hit the panic button by reinvesting in the market.

But the question is - apart from the 30 minute time difference, will much of a ratings change happen just because of a local morning news bulletin?

I would’ve thought that Seven would be the market leader in Adelaide at 11:30am because of the flow on effect from Sunrise and The Morning Show.

If anything, resources should be directed to the 6pm bulletin.

It’s not really about the ratings at 11.30, but more a promotional push by Seven Adelaide to say ‘we provide more local news than any other station’. They’re trying to re-establish their “local” news brand in Adelaide (or at least fix it).

100% this is why they are doing this.

100%. End game is ratings, sure. But for now it’s perception of localism across the day. And its not costing much more, they’ll recycle alot from the national 11:30, just presented locally.

Based on that model, maybe Perth morning news will also stay.

I was over in Adelaide in November and watched both news services. I’ve always been 7 loyal but the 9 bulletin was much slicker and more impressive than 7, the latter felt like a rural news presentation.
I think Adelaide viewers prefer the 2 presenters/team/family approach - if I was 7, I’d be finding a replacement for John Riddell asap.
