Seven News Content and Appearance (2020-Feb 2025)

When I first read the headline i was like what… thinking it would be an in-studio “gag” segment, but if it’s indeed just reports like 10 and 9, I don’t see a problem with it.

It’ll probably be similar to the satirical segments Humphries once did for 7:30.

Brisbane set looks so average when used like this, really needed a riser. There is no perspective

Also looks like the cross to the newsroom failed to stay on screen as intended.

It’s terrible. I cringe at every wide shot. It’s so dark and depressing. So much empty space.

Looks worse in person too, it’s just a big empty space. Could’ve done a few small things to really elevate it.

Suppose it all comes down to budgets.

Actively offloading experienced reporters and loading up on gimmicks - what could go wrong?

ACA used to use Paul Hogan and Willesee used Norman Gunston, IIRC.

The set (and therefore I assume the studio) doesn’t appear high enough for a riser.

ACA is very different to the news.

I agree that it looks terrible. The lighting is the worst part - it’s so incredibly dim.

If a riser won’t fit, even some type of alternate flooring to “represent” a standing presentation area could work.

Exactly. Their serious news bulletins will soon be mimicking The Project.

Not so much these days with all the consumer stories, where to get the best deals etc on the 6pm bulletins.

I can assure you it’s not. Just poor planning / low budget.

They have more than enough room.

This set is 100% better than what they had before.

Definitely.
If they can’t manage the riser, they could always paint the floor to appear as though there is a platform in front of the screen and under the desk.

They need to do what NBN News did, as soon as they put down those gloss floor tiles I think it was, it instantly looked so much better.

but they are- dare I say it- actual reporters, who just focus on light things. They’re not comedian turn satirists. Dunno if east-coast focused comedy would fly in Adelaide or Perth.
