New set aside
Do we know if there were any other tech upgrades to the studio
Much to love; but much to be improved.
Early days with heaps of adjustments. They’ll get there.
Yeah like most big panels now they are made up of individual smaller panels. I would say some of the Martin place panels were reused and repurposed for this set. I’m pretty sure the wall one on the right is the one that was behind the couch on sunrise.
Interesting how they’ve managed to make the set look so different over the years mostly just with paint and changes to the graphics but no real other changes.
Doesn’t look like it’s been replaced. Definitely repainted and the custom glass added, though.
7News Brisbane shared this feature on their sets over the years on Facebook:

Edit:
not sure what’s going on with that text, but the link works…
I thought for a second that they’d moved their studio to Myanmar with that text. ![]()
Tony Auden appeared on Sunrise this morning.
Presuming he is using the Brisbane 7News set.
Being filmed form straight on, and graphics appear horizontal.
Also, a shot of Mike Higgins (and Rob Readings) reading on TVQ0 in 1987. Woops…
ew
Would have been from the right side screen then?
I gathered that was some promo about Mike returning to 7? Sounded like it was actually taken from a Flashback segment.
Or maybe straight on looking at the left side?
Yes, from Flashback. Put together by somebody who probably wasn’t even around in the 80’s to know any better ![]()
Why has shooting the weather from straight on become so forbidden? This angle looks fantastic.
Just because it’s ‘edgy’ and shows of the angles of the set doesn’t mean it’s a great idea. Weather’s the one thing in the studio presentation you want to be able to read clearly.
The graphics should be full screen so it does not have to be downsized to fit the presenter so you can read more easily the temperatures and as thus you can also fit more temperatures on the screen. I used to like the fly bys they used to do instead of having cluttered maps which look dreadful and are hard to read. While that map isn’t cluttered if you look at the 6pm Sydney weather graphics you see what I mean not to mention they have put certain localities in the wrong spot on the map in space available. Which annoys me
. If you used a fly by you would not have that problem.
Or even using a green screen. Yeah monitors look good for wide set shots but filming graphics on a screen also loses some eligibility.
Tony Auden reporting from the Brisbane set for The Latest.
(Also a very long day for him, first reporting on Sunrise this morning)
He probably had a long break in the middle of the day. I was also under the impression the Sunrise crosses were pre-recorded the night before?
