Here’s another one for a product recall.
That red in the corners is like what I was suggesting for the desk. And the blue not so dark and intense.
So, on an unrelated note, does anyone know what the ‘NEWS’ font is?
With the “feud” between Seven and Nine over weather presenters in Brisbane, the weather seems to be becoming more prominent and earlier each night - tonight we had a cross at 6:16.
Maybe to lock out Ten or Sky.
There’s a gap there for another 9 logo. How did they miss it?
Looks like Sydney is experimenting with different camera angles, the cold open shot, some story intros and throws to commercial break were done different to normal:
Looks similar to Melbourne with those shots
Like 10 news, 7 still have a jib cameraman. While I’ll never condone letting anyone go from a newsroom - it still screams of prestige.
Some nice angles. Nothing tops 10 Sydney though. They’ve got some stellar production crew over there.
I know discussion involving Sydney’s set seems to come around every week, but I feel like with some minor changes, the set could actually look half decent.
For example, why light blue? Just seems like a very strange colour decision, considering the colour doesn’t appear on any 7 News Branding. Simply changing everything from light blue to a dark blue/purple seen on the graphics or even black could make a huge difference.
Because Nine.
Plus the set looks like it’s had its day when it gets pushed about regularly 7 days a week. Should’ve been a multi purpose set where everything is in the right place and doesn’t move.
Not a fan of the shade of blue they went with (especially with the graphic tweaks) but would love to see the live shot extended across 3 screens. Although I don’t think the lens would be able to go wide enough. The set looked great with the election graphics extending across all 3 screens.
The desk is really the only thing getting pushed in for news, but I get and agree your point to some extent.
I’m sure Seven News Sydney would really love to have a Nine-esque set if they could afford one!
Wouldn’t mind predicting that some new (and Nine-inspired with the Opener) camera angles are in response to ratings results of recent nights: 50k+ gap on Sunday, nearly 70k gap at 6.30pm last night…
They’re using their set better than Nine Sydney are. I haven’t seen any innovation there since it launched. They rarely experiment now.
Unpopular opinion, I like the Sydney set. It’s not as good as Nine’s set, but it looks modern to me.
The use of the set on The Latest shows how good it can be if there are decent colours. As others have mentioned, there is far too much aquarium blue lighting. I swear someone at the Seven News graphics department loves the colour blue.
Today’s 5pm news opener started with the further zoomed out shot of the desk, like Sydney has been doing recently:
Looks good, but far too much blue still.
